I grew up listening to tagalog music. Very romantic, heart warming and the type of music to listen to when you know someone you love - you think of that person when listening to a certain song. I grew up listening to artists like Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Nora Aunor, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Piolo Pascual, Gary Valenciano, Sharon Cuneta and many more. When it comes to love songs, ballads and romantic hits - filipinos do a wonderful job in inspiring the heart. One song that has been around, but many filipinos might have or not heard of it titled "Sana Bukas Mahal Mo Na Ako" which means hopefully you still love me tomorrow. This was performed by Ogie Alcasid - another hit song from him was "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala", "Ikaw Sana" and "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang" - of course most of his songs always lets us know how precious it is to be with a woman, that you go after her no matter what and to not give up your hopes. Martin Nievera also has great songs such as "Hanggang Ngayon" and "Hanggang Sa Kailanman" - Most of his songs teaches us that in relationships we go through tough times, but knowing you love the person through the thick and thin. Anymore that you want to add feel free.

If you're talking about great filipino songs there are no shortage of talents here. I could list tagalog and even songs from other dialects that I like but you'd have a list as long as my arm!
For tagalog songs I think nothing beats APO and songs by Ryan Cayabyab.

I've got lots of OPM favorites but no particular singer.
My favorites among OPMs are
Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka, unfortunately I don't know who originally sang it.
I also like Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal, I think it's by Ogie Alcasid.
I remember I used to love Rey Valera'songs. They are very sentimental. Renz Verano's husky voice is titillating I think.

Some of them do actually - Especially Piolo, Martin Nievera. Ogie Alcasid and the others went to show biz on ABS-CBN TFC or iGMA network.

Of course Regine Velaquez is a legend in the making. The Mariah Carey of the Philippines. Yes she does have precious songs back then and until now. I used to watch her on iGMA back then.

I really love Martin Nievera. I love the way he sings songs, and I love it when he performs. The rapport he has with the audience is highly commendable. I love his songs "Be my Lady" and his version of "I'll be There for You."

I'm a fan of opm bands like Sponge Cola and Hale. They have come with their own styles that are not like any other bands. I like the poetic compositions of Sponge Cola. I like Hale because of their melodramatic style of music.
I used to like the music of Rivermaya when their vocalist was Bamboo. But after that, I have never appreciated their music.
And the best band that never fall away is Parokya ni Edgar. The best! Maybe it's because of their "pang-masa" style of music.
