My son is 8 and has a form of Autism. He is obsessed with pirates and the movies Pirates of the Caribbean. This weekend we went into the video store and saw another autistic boy who was ga'ga' over the movie. I went online to my support group and come to find out there are A TON of kids with Autism who are obsessed....Any clue why?

My 6 year old autistic boy is obsessed with High School Musical. From what I have heard its all about routine with autism.

True...routine is huge. My son has Asperger's and kids with AS tend to have 1 subject that they become obsessed with.

That's really interesting! Is it just boys with autism though? When I was little I wanted to be a pirate! I had a clip on gold earring and stripy rag clothes and the bunk beds were my pirate ship! Pirates are certainly a fun thing to be interested in.

I can't tell you why kids with autism have the obsession but my 13 year old son who doesn't have it has been obsessed with Pirates for years. Every Halloween that's what he has to be. He has more Pirate costumes than probably any kid in his school.
