Slightly unethical?

The other day I was looking online for coupon codes for one of my favorite stores, a store that NEVER offers coupon codes. I was hoping to find some sort of discount though, because I am about to make a large purchase from this store. So I stumbled upon an Ebay seller selling a discount method that is GUARANTEED to work. Well it only cost a couple of dollars, so I bought it, mostly out of curiosity.
I received the instuctions on how to get a guaranteed discount every time I shop at this store. The method is completely legal, you don't have to be an employee of the store, etc. It's a program that they offer to their shoppers.
Still, I'm trying to decide if it's somewhat unethical. It's a perfectly legitimate way to earn the discount, but it's a little bit of a loophole in their system.
I'm wondering if my conscience will bother me if I do it. I would save over $500 if I did it.
I guess my question is: would you do something if a little nagging voice in your head thought it was kinda cheesy?

If it is legal, then I wouldn't hesitate on saving $500! I think that the one that was unethical was the person profiting by selling you the info on how to get the discount.
There are so many sites and people that will help you find discounts with no charge. YOu aren't being unethical, the ebayer is!

You're right, sunshine4. The info is easy to find- I found it on my own after I bought it on Ebay. I wish I hadn't paid for the infomation, although I wouldn't have thought to do it.

Well, if it is legal and just a loophole...I would do it LOL If it was something that could get you banned from the store or against store policy, then I would not use it. Even so...the thought of saving $500...that is pretty enticing.

You have to decide how much it will bother you. If it is legal and is something that the company has built into the system, then there's nothing wrong with it. If it bothered the company, they would correct the situation so people can't do it anymore.
If it were me, I wouldn't do it if it involved misrepresenting myself in any way, or lying. But if it's simply a matter of using the company's fine print to my advantage, I would do it.

The question is how is this Ebay seller find out about this loophole that help save you a lot of money. It is not that you are trying to steal their products without paying for it. You found a legit way to save money, why not. I don't see anything unethical about it. So, don't worry about it. you had done nothing wrong at all. I am a bit curious, since your post is 6 years ago, did you actually had done it?
