I don't think so! There are so many discussions where the person has a bunch of discussions that have been there for days and yet they keep doing the same thing! There is one who has the same subject words but the discussion changes, lots of those one liners and of course discussions that are only links for referrals. I have replied to quite a few discussions actually asking how mylot works! Don't they realize that every site has a faq's listed somewhere? How can anyone start out on a site without reading what it is about? I know this shouldn't bother me and I should mind my business but I sit here shaking my head. How dumb can some people be? Even if English isn't their main language they should at least be able to read what the site is about right? If they can start discussions and respond they can't be that bad at reading the language.
Do you think members who have 0 responses eventually figure out what they are doing wrong and start writing good discussions? Why does it take them so long to figure it out?

Have you had any discussion that didn't get comments? I have a few times and a couple of times I couldn't stand it so I emailed a friend and asked her to go comment on them for me. Just so I could feel better that they weren't sitting there totally empty. Now I have been here a while I don't care so much. If it happens it happens.

Actually, I just checked and I have no discussions with 0 responses. The least I have is 2 responses and those are both about computer problems I was having that I knew I wouldn't get many responses to. I really don't care either it's just the fact that we are here to help each other earn money and one liner discussions that can't be responded to are not helping are they?

Actually no you are right, they are not helping! I have not been here much lately and I some how forgot how frustrating it can be to come across those. I really don't think those people did read the guidelines. Possibly some really don't know English either because I came across one discussion quite a few months back that was a extremely short and ridiculous question. When I checked their profile and to see what other discussions the person had started they were all practically the same. So I wrote him/her a note and said you need to read the mylot guidelines. But ya your right it is frustrating and annoying to come across one to many of those.

You brought up a very good point. Although I have seen a lot of this issue, I have also noticed that there are some very good discussions on mylot that have 0 responses. I know because I have been on mylot for a year now on and off, and have had to deal with not having some of my best discussions replied to. I don't mind because quite frankly, I would rather receive no replies than senseless ones. As a result, I choose to simply respond to meaningful (enough) discussions in hopes that it will bring awareness to the obvious problem on Mylot. Nonetheless, I understand where you are coming from and I think that hopefully that problem will come to an end soon enough. The lack of understanding on Mylot is outrageous and as a result many of us are suffering from it. However, I would just advice you to continue to do your part and not let this issue bother you too much. Yes, it is sad and we may sometimes wonder if anyone even take the time to read instructions and fully grasp them, but remember that wherever we go in life...we will meet up with situations like these. Do your part and do it right, and maybe, just maybe...the world will catch on. Thank you for bringing up such an important point. I truly hope that everyone on Mylot reads this posting. Be blessed and positive always.

You are right, if members are not posting discussions that can be responded to or even worth a response...then it defeats the whole purpose of MyLot. These same members are the ones who seek out the other worthless discussions to respond to...and the cycle begins. Like I said, there is a great lack of understanding. More and more users are merely posting discussions (that seldom have any point to them) just for the sake of posting. We are here to help each other out, but it is really hard to do so when the majority do not understand the simple rules. I think that most people find posting 2 line discussions the easiest way to gain money, not knowing that in the long run it is really lessening the chances of being a successful contributor to MyLot. Too bad we cannot change people or make them see sense, we can only hope that they will learn right from wrong for themselves. Be blessed and always positive.

As I see it we are here to make friends, earn money and help each other earn that money. The reason we request and accept friends is to get more responses and discussions to respond to. If members make discussions that can't be responded to then they aren't helping any are they?

oh i know i have seen these, i even accepted a couple as my friends but i just cannot answer their discussions because i don't know how to answer..It looks like they just say anything to get a discussion started..I have been thinking that if things don't change i will have to turn them off.it fills up my e-mail with stuff that you cannot answer too..i know what you are talking about ,i mean i hate to be this way but what can you do? I mean how can you reply to some of those discussions? its really not what i would call a discussion....

i don't understand what you mean about your discussion alert...Are you talking about not turning your friends on? if so then i supposs i could quit getting them in my e-mails and just going to mylot and answering from "my friends discussions" is this what you mean?

You are so right! This is the reason I have never put my discussion alert on. Some people don't realize what a discussion actually is do they?

I don't think they have read the guidelines and they could ask others how MyLot works.Though you easily can see how MyLot works.
So i think it will be a big question marks.
I've seen this too with people who just had one line and just a question.
I must say in the beginning it's all strange but if others already help you by saying how MyLot works there must be a bell riging in your head.At least in my head it does.
Maybe they don't want to see or something could be possible but i don't know.

My feeling is that they don't care enough to start a decent discussion and if they start a bunch of senseless ones they will make money.

As much as it pains me to admit it, ctry, lately I have seen a slow-down in responses to some of my discussions. I have started(what I considered), thought-provoking, intelligent discussions on a couple of topics, but I end up receiving only 2 or 3 responses. It is causing me to wonder if I'm just spinning my wheels here on myLot lately. I often browse the discussions with no responses, and can usually find at least a couple that are worthy of a response.

I have seen some people mention that it is slowing down here but I haven't noticed it. It seems we can't get too thought provoking because it will be going over the heads of a lot of people.

Often when I log on, there are people for whom English is their second language. The mixed up stuff they write confuses most of us. I try to sort it out, reword it, and ask if this is what they mean. They respond with clarification and then sometimes others follow. French is my second language and I'm sure I'm no better in that. So I do try to help them.
Sometimes there are cultural problems to overcome too, like they ask about something I've never hear of.
I've started one-liners that have gotten me better results than ones where I explained because people were put off by the explanation or it just confused them. But I do try not to have a one-liner. Take care

I too have tried to figure out what some people are trying to say and usually end up passing it by because I can't. There was one instance recently where I did ask what she meant and I never got a reply...leaving me to believe she was only after the money for the discussion.

For some of these people, it is what you suggest. They are failing to read the instructions & want to earn money the easiest & quickest way.
For others, I think they are just using My Lot to scam a bit, starting useless discussions & hoping just one person will reply.
I have someone on my friends list (who wont last long there), who has all his/her discussions in block letters & generally one liners. I can't work out whether this person lacks english or what?

I wish I had an answer to that last one hon. But I haven't figured it out yet either. I think that when people sign up, there should be a page with EXTRA BIG LETTERS telling them to read the FAQs first before continuing. Of course, I'm sure that wouldn't put a lid on the whole situation either. LOL! Just thinking about it is addling my brain at the moment!

I once said that we shouldn't be able to become a member until we read the faq's section but I'm sure there is no way for admin. to do that.

Read about the site Before you start a post? That makes common sense. But these days common sense isn't that common.I don't know if they will get the hang of it or not.I didn't know there were so many who have so many discussions with no responses.I guess if there were more caring members like you, they would understand the rules faster.

I always go through the 0 responses to see if any of my friends have any stuck there and I can help them out by responding to them. Yes, there are very many of them and most are so ridiculous it's easy to see why they are there. I hope this discussion does open the eyes of quite a few members and helps them out.

I think its laziness. I didn't write any discussions when I first joined and only answered discussoins just to get a feel of what mylot was all about. I didn't actually read the FAQs lol because I couldn't be bothered. I learnt as I went along answering discussions.

Go on shake your head in disbelief. I do.I found one whose user name and discussion title and thedescription were all the same Not using the User name here it went like this.
User DOG
Discussion DOG
Description DOG
It was late one night or early one morning. I hadn't gotten much sleep. So I responded. " What about dogs?"Again Dog wasn't the user, but you get the idea.As for the rest, I don't know. I too have reponded to the best of my ability to how mylot works. Even guiding a few to the FAQ page. What else can we do?

I do the same thing. When someone asks how mylot works I respond with "if you read the faq's...." hoping that they will and figure it out on their own. Of course they could be doing it just to get the money for the discussion right?

Unless these people you are referring to are hurting you in anyway, why are you letting it get to you so much. If you re only talking about earning a solitary dollar with your indepth discussions and answers then they are not costing you any money are they?
I am not from the Us but that dosn't make me any less knowledgeable than someone who is...
It actually infuriates me that you have nothing better to do than complain about peoples postings. They will soon learn when their posts get deleted if they are putting links in.
Some people may actually just getting a feel for the site and getting to know people.
I try and respond to everyone who has put a comment on my discussion but i am not going to write three chapters on each..
I am a newbie and even though we have read the info on here the payout structure isn't very clear...
Is this a big enough post for you?

I don't think you're getting my point. I'm trying to point out to members who have discussions with no responses where they are going wrong. After so long they will complain that they are making no money and leave mylot and I don't like to see that happen. We are a quality community and enjoy being here and welcome all newcomers. The idea is to post good discussions for everyone to resond to helping each other to earn money. One liner discussions are not helping each other out. Get it?

Maybe they don't notice they have that many 0 response discussions? I read every link there is on this site, when I first became a member. I also read the guidelines every month to refresh my memory of the rules. I want to make the most of my experiences here. But I think it's okay that newbies ask questions. It gives us easy to respond to postings to do. Sometimes I like to be able to respond to a discussion that I don't have to think too much about.
I have one of my discussions that has 0 responses and I don't really care.

You know the old saying "When all else fails THEN read the instructions". It isn't just the language barrier at work here. There is a very nice American that has been posting for the last month that still hasn't gotten it. His posts are often very interesting and he is now getting lots of responses, but he has asked a couple of questions and gotten the right answers and he is either ignoring them or he just doesn't get it.

What gets me is they understand the site where their links come from so why don't they understand the Instructions here on mylot? I have a feeling people are telling their friends this is a place to earn easy money and in the end they find out that we have to actually work for it...lol!

maybe they didt know that its nice to get a lot of responce and learn from other peoples point of view. i used to have the problem when i started, i used to have one liner discussion and didnt get a reply, so i went and browsed on the top discussion and started learning from it...
Maybe theyre not just paying much attention and post just the sake of posting one out.
