Does education equal smart?

em]rolleyes[/em]Not necesarily. Education is not a guarantee for being smart. Their are many who are not educated yet smart. It is learned, it is earned. It is something they have worked for to be able to learn the hows and secrets of thier craft. All smiles, JNY[

That depends on what you refer to as education. If you mean diplomas and degrees, no. A piece of paper does not make someone smart. If by education you mean a learned person, then yes. Someone who has learned much can be called smart. One of my best friends has no college degrees while I am about a month away from my Masters degree. I consider him just as smart as me because I know him, and I know that he has just as much knowledge. He's even beaten me at Trivial Pursuit a few times, and I am practically unbeatable against most folks. He just doesn't have the financial means to put himself through college and get a degree. Even then however there are book smarts and street smarts. Some people may have significant amounts of knowledge, but make mistakes that can be called stupid when doing tasks where book smarts are not as beneficial. A person who is gullible enough to believe a used car salesman may be smart, but lack the street smarts necessary to determine whether he is being lied to or not.

absolutely not.Such as an education is good for people who reached it but this is not a sign that this person is smart!!especially because the system as reagrds education now in many cases didn't mesure if a person is smart or not but how much they can memorize dates..just datesa nd notion!!a people if is smart ina subject or in general may be they haven't an education or superior degree but it is smart as well!!so these i think is normal..is not a piece of paper that assign to people smartness or not!!

There are some people who are smarter than us despite the fact the they didn't recieved formal or proper education. I guess it's there experiences that makes them smarter than us. As what an old adage says: "Experience is the best teacher!"

i dont think so.having an education is a lot different from being a smart person.smart person are inborn talent that they have even if they lack education they can out do you in any discussion while an educated person only knows what they have learned from school or university and nothing more.you will be more astonishished if you will know an uneducated person an yet having more than 20 businesses in his name and earns more than a person with a 2 or even 3 college degrees.

Absolutely not. Most of the smarter people I know are without a degree. I have two people I work with that have at least a BA and are working towards a masters and I have no idea how. Degrees are earned not only with intelligence but also work. Part of the point of the degree is the initiative and dedication behind going to school. Most people who have degrees are not lazy people but not neccesarily the smartest.
