I have an elliptical and love it (when I use it anyway ;) ). For some reason I find it less boring than a treadmill.I just like the movement better, I guess. It is easy to use and a great work out. You don't have to get anything too fancy either. Just as long as it has the ability to change the resistance and the incline level is enough.

well i owned a treadmill at one point in time and i as you stated too got bored with it so i thought the momentum to an elliptical looked interesting and even interesting enough to keep me going back for more atleast until the "baby" fat is gone :) thanks for your input

I love the elliptical my gym has one and I got to where I would use it instead of the treadmill it burns alot more calories in a shorter amount of time than a treadmill too.
If you have the room for an ellipitacal I would say get one you will love it.

Several years ago I went to the gym and used an elliptical. I loved it. . .the low impact, being able to go forward and backward to work different leg muscles and it got my heart rate up. About 2 years ago I decided to get one for the house. I went with the cheapest one I could find and that was a BAD decision. It hurt my back when I used it everyday so I tried to do it every other day and it still hurt my back (I don't have back issues normally). I gave it to my in-laws and they said it hurt their backs also. I don't know if the stride was different or what. Like I said, I loved it at the gym so I guess it was different. If you get one, make sure it isn't a cheap one. I just bought a mini stepper and so far, it is working well. . .plus it is much cheaper (I got it for $35 on sale) and takes up very little space. Good luck with whatever you choose!
