normally the nickname i use oon the net are just as so..such in real life they are unknown or never used by friends,people i knew,parents ,relatives and so on..normally in my country as nickname people like to use a short from of your name..so simply than ones build for online communities sites and so on..

Tony, where do you live? A lot of nicknames are shortened versions of a person's formal name. Here in the US, and I think in most of the other English speaking countries, people often earn other nicknames, especially from friends, for things like physical traits, activities they do, personal habits, and other things.
A person might be known as Lefty because they are left-handed or Rusty because they have reddish colored hair. I have a friend we call ScotchBoy, he's actually of Norwegian ancestry, but he likes to drink my Scotch!
Royalty and Nobles have long had their titles, so have professionals - like Doctor and Professor - and for the average person nicknames are often their titles!

yes i'm from italy!!so usually people give nick referring to short name!!what i mean before that is seldom there is a nick as lefty or others like that!!normal if you named jennifer and call jenny ok this is usual here too!!

My name is Bettina, but my friends call me TiTina.. lets just say i was the first one to grow a "chest" in school. Although it's forver ago.. people still call meby that nick name.
