I am an African-American female in my late 20s who started having acne later in life. I just wanted to let people know that I have had success with the prescription medications Duac (in the day) and Tazorac(at night). I read this book called the Skin Type Solution which recommended the Walgreens Extra Strength Acne Medication and that works just as well as Duac (check the ingredients, very similar). I also started using the Ambi Even and Clear facial wash 6 days a week and the Pan Oxyl bar (also at Walgreens) once a week. Things are improving finally but I still have some dark spots to get rid of. Anybody else use these products?

I went to a dermatologist. At first i didn't think it would work bc we tried other meds like differin and they didn't work. I also learned to wash my face with a wash cloth and not my fingers and not to sleep on my face at all. I just switched jobs, so no health insurance now. I am using the walgreens med instead of the duac and i have some tazorac left until i get new insurance. I know how you feel. Don't give up. I tried clinique, neutrogena, clean & clear, etc to no avail. just pay attention to how your skin responds to products. And drink water and exercise :) Let me know how it goes!

I too have had problems with acne. What helped me was i went to a derm. She helped me find something that works with me. I also have switched to only using all natural soap on my face. Good luck with your acne I am sure it will clean up just fine.
