Can you lose your taste for Coffee?

What is wrong with me lately? If I lost my taste for coffee? Maybe I am just completely spoiled as I have had a lot of Tim Horton's coffee in the past few months. Here is the deal! My coffee pot broke down. I went to buy a new one and thouht I found the perfect machine. Well it should of been perfect it cost me one hundred dollars and I have never spent that on a coffee maker before. I have ground my own coffee beans for years. So what could be wrong? Whats wrong is it was terrible. After many attempts I went and bought some ground fine coffee and tried again. Awful, I tell you just awful. I thought it is possibly the new coffee maker. Maybe it just doesn't get hot enough to cook the coffee or something. I went on line sure enough reviews for the machine were bad. So I bought a new pot. Same name as my old one and same price to which was nice. What no the coffee is not right. Why? What is going on here? Did my taste buds change? In two months I can not make a good cup of coffee. Is it the pot?I doubt it; but I am ready to return it and go for drastic measures of buy another hundred dollar pot but a different brand. Should I? Do you think it is just me? Does taste buds dissappear with age? Gee now that is anoher discussion isn't it? LOL Does taste buds dissappear with age? NO no this is a coffee question; does anyone have any advice for me?

There is nothing I enjoy more than a good cup of coffee in the morning.I have been around for a number of years and used quite a few different coffee makers but my Cuisnart makes the best coffee ever. I use Folgers CoffeeHouse Gourmet Supreme medium dark.My Cuisnart has a charcoal filter that filters the water before it is perked and they have to be changed per instructions. When measuring out my coffee, I use one scoop less than the number of cups I'm making. The Cuisnart that I have can be purchased on sale for about $95.00 and well worth it.

When my coffee pot broke down it was a Cusinart Pot that I bought. It was the new one out I think. The one with out the decanter. My first cup of coffee was so bad I was in shock. But I thought it must be my beans. So I tried again. For a week I tried and finally went out and bought a regular ground coffee. Still this was not right by a long shot. There were things about this pot I didn't like and I went on line and saw others didn't like it either. Nobody mention the coffee but I thought gee maybe it isn't get hot enought to brew the coffee right. So I returned it. I bought the same brand as I had before; Black and Decker 60 dollars and came with a new grinder. But again this coffee is not so pleasant and i just can't get it right. So two weeks ago I opened my new Tim Horton's Coffee that hubby gave me for Christmas. Is it me? After two weeks I can not perfect a cup of coffee even with Tim Hortons. Hubby thinks I should go and buy a Braun Coffee Maker from Tim Horton's or a Store and if that doesn't work stop drinking coffee. What do you think? Should I try a braun..or which Cusinart do you have? Maybe the one I had was a dud or something.

I have the Cuisnart Brew Central Coffeemaker, DCC-1200 Series. I am 61 and have been drinking coffee for a long time, so when I say it makes the best coffee I've ever had, you're talking about alot of coffee. I would stay away from coffeemakers that also grinds etc. and get one that MAKES COFFEE ONLY. The Braun you mentioned has a good reputation.

You can try doing a couple of different things. I used to work for Starbucks and we were always taught that there were a lot of different factors that went into a cup of coffee. You have to have good beans; I don't know what you have been using, maybe it's the brand of coffee. Like you said, you have been drinking Tim Horton's for a while and they have good coffee. You might want to try adjusting the proportion of the coffee to water, because sometimes some machines don't brew coffee the same way. You might want to try using filtered water, either with a separate filter or other pure water, that can definitely make a difference. If nothing else works, I would not purchase another expensive pot; invest in something more inexpensive until you can perfect a cup of coffee in that machine. Good luck!

Yes I think I will have to get the right pot. My old one made some great coffee for me. I have used the Columbian Coffee beans for about 5 years and for the most part I could not complain. I enjoyed my coffee. My husband who doesn't drink coffee thinks I should just return this second new pot I bought and go buy the braun coffee maker from Tim Hortons.. What do you think?

Taste buds can change but don't think to the extend you mentioned above. Are you still grinding your beans or is the new pot brewed from canned coffee? That would make a difference. I recently went from instant cappicino at home to brewed coffee and it took awhile to adjust. My taste buds were geared for the very sweet cappicino but I finally adjusted and have learned to like brewed coffee once again.

I finally got it in my head to stop using my new measuring spoon and went back to the old way of measuring. Plus I buy Tim Horton's coffee for at home instead of just when I am out. I am enjoying coffee again.

The coffee maker is an important purchase. I use to have a cheap coffee maker and the smell of coffee was so strong that my neighbors knew when I had made coffee. Now with my new machine the coffee isn't so strong that it stands up in the cup. The neighbors don't know I made coffee. Yesterday one dropped by and she told me that she thought everyone stopped drinking coffee in this house.

Very strange - last night I wrote out a fairly large comment for your post but now I see it isn't here. I had no idea the smell of coffee could be based on the coffee maker. Even though now when I think about it, it makes perfect sense.

I hope I never lose my taste for coffee. I enjoy it too much. I will admit, though, I do find some coffees to have a less attractive flavor. I've really gotten used to Starbuck's coffee. So, when I drink the "supermarket" coffees, like Folger's or Maxwell House, I find them bitter and less tasteful.

Taste buds do change with age and become weaker but I do not think they would change that drastically in such a short period of time. I love coffee but I notice that sometimes it just doesn't taste right to me, even if I try different kinds. I think it maybe just the loss of your coffee maker and you need to find one that works for you or it may just be a brief (hopefully) phase you are going through.

Will I am off to make a cup of coffee. I didn't even have a cup yesterday at all. How weird is that. I guess I am really discouraged about my coffee! I have been thinking about making it for the past 3 hours but haven't done it. I plan to be percise in measuring so hopefully it turns out good.

It is probably the coffee. You can buy Tim Horton's coffee at the stores now. It is that brand you are using. I cannot use Nabobs, I use Maxwell House. Tim Hortons is a brand of Arabica coffee, but it is not like most Arabica coffes. I would suggest you buy a different brand of coffee and make it fresh, start with the small canister or package. Also try different types, like Columbo, Arabica, different brands. It is not the coffee pot, it is the brand that you are using.

The brand I have been using at home the past couple of weeks is the Tim Horton's that Hubby bought me for christmas with my nice Tim Horton's cups. He knows how I love my Tim Horton's coffee. But honestly I am doing something wrong or I lost my flavor for coffee.

I don't like the taste of coffee myself, but i know quite a few people that do. Some of them only stick to drinkin original flavour of nescafe, but most people seem to change what coffee they have every so often so they don't get fed up of it. ~Joeys wife

My mom drinks instant coffee. It's okay but it just does not do the trick for me. I really love the whole process of grinding the beans, hearing it brew, holding the hot cup full of coffee in my hands and enjoying every drop of it.

wowza! I never knew that the coffee machine could make a difference. have you tried peculated coffee? or pressed coffee? what will we do with your name if you decide you do not like coffee anymore? I guess it would still work - you do not like coffee so you are offering it away....
