Sometimes you know he/she got it right! (Not a Religious Discussion)

The world can be a heavy place to live in. The optimists say it is always good to be here, on the planet that is. The pessimists on the other hand will debate that the human condition was the result of a cosmic mistake and we suffer because of our fall from grace.
I was bush walking and taking in some breathtaking views and for a moment in time I was able to say God got it right.
Are you an optimist or pessimist? What do you like about being here, and what do you hate about being here?

Oh no contest...I am a happy, spiritually satisfied optimist! To me life on this plane is a gift...and an amazing opportunity to grow our souls. Now I must admit that in the past life often felt overwhelmingly daunting and there were times I wanted to check out and see if there really was anything in the next realm...if there was one.
Thankfully I hung in there and where I am now is the gift I received for persevering. My 'larger self' always lived with an inner belief that everything is always working for the highest and greatest good of the all beyond the appearance of any outer circumstance. During my darkest hours I affirmed that to myself over and over...even when I could not see the light...and it paid off. The darkness had a beginning, middle and end...and then the light came through and another phase of transformational change led me to higher ground.
Even with all the concerns about global warming/cooling, energy shortages, war, downturns in the economy I still believe this world is a wonderful place with far more goodness than many people are willing to acknowledge.
In my work...and since becoming a member of Mylot I see countless everyday heroes. They are making this world a better place and large and small ways...and those fireflies can and do illuminate the shadows. So I love being here because of all the wonderful people who share this planet with me. Without all of you I probably would not like being here...but thankfully with billions of people sharing our little blue planet...there are lots of us to go around...hopefully for many, many more years to come.
Great topic...thanks for posting it. Hope all is well with you we haven't chatted in ages. As you can tell life is good in chilly Manitoba...minus 39 in the next few days!
Cheers,
Raia

Tis wonderful that you have found happiness in your life Raia. For me happiness has been elusive. I haven't thrown in the towel yet, I think I'm too strong to give up. It has been written that to tread the spiritual path, life gets dramatically more difficult before the rewards are reaped. I'm ready to reap!

I would have to say I am an optimist because I spend a lot of time laughing at what goes on around me. People take themselves way too seriously. Life is too short for all of that.
We are not a mistake unless we want it that way. We choose, it is not chosen for us. If you want to be happy, you will look for the good in life. If you want to be unhappy, you will only see the down side of life.

Hi there, Techie, so glad 2 see you here. I just saw this post of yours, well you can say I love 2 be optimistic but in my nature I always think of the worst case scenario, it is good sometimes but not all the time I know.
Lovely post, missing you ...

I'm an optimist most of the time.
What I like about being here is the opporunity to work on overcoming my fears that throw me over into the pessimit mode. I have been able to reduce my fears from all out terror to mild-to-midrange apprehensions. And I look forward to living fear free. Or as fear free as it is possible to live in this world.
What do I hate about being here? My terror.

Thanks Winter08 for sharing. Fear can be so crippling, am speaking from experience as well. Though whenever I do step outside my comfort zone and succeed I feel soooo good. I wish it was easier to just DO IT (whatever it is) without procrastination. I like Nelson Mandela's speach wherein it said we fear our own magnificents more than anything. We must be pretty magnificent!
