I have heard this is a no no, Now i dont smoke anymore, nor do i have an outhouse, I live in canada, but not in an igloo;) Is it true that you shouldnt smoke in an outhouse though? I have smoked in one before and i never exploded or got lit on fire lol. Is this the truth or a myth?

I think people shouldn't smoke full stop. (as you know) Well, I don't see the difference unless it's a really small space and then you'd breath more in right? well i guess it depends, ~Joey

Well the methane gas can kind of build up in there so you do have to be careful. Its not like a toilet in a house you know. Things kind of hang around awhile longer. Most people do try to keep them limed but that is not always possible.

We blew up an outhouse on our Uncle's farm one time. Not because of Methane but just for fun. It was a good thing we got reeeeaaal far away before it blew!!!! It did go boom and uukk went a long way. Fortunately it was way behind an old house that no one lived in any more but workers apparently were still using it. My brother of course was blamed. He caught it for everything. Well, he did do it, and he usually did do the stuff, but he was not the brains behind a lot of the stuff that we did.HehHeh. He decided the beating was worth it though. He was tough! The next day we were back out in search of!!

Lol Terryz, There has to be an outhouse somewhere in the backwoods of the states! lol to say that there is not one outhouse in the states is a pretty funny statement! We sure do have indoor plumbing here too but like at peoples cottages and stuff they have outhouses! It's a part of camping! hehe. And it wouldnt catch fire, it would explode.. because of the methane that comes from the.. raw waste that sits in the bottom of the outhouse and ferments there .. EW. anyways!! I'm going to move on to a new topic now!!

personally i have never smoked, i think it is a discusting habbit. but it is someones choice if they do it. but i do think that it is abit of an urban legend with the outhouse smoking thing. i have heard it before. but we dont have them over here in england

lol there isn't a single outhouse left in england ? like way back in the woods at someone cottage or anything ? Lol i don't mean that we have outhouses here in urban area's, its at campgrounds and stuff. I guess you must have portapotties, so lets change outhouse to portapotty then. lol.

I guess if its an open outhouse it would be ok, but som e have closed doors and because so many of them are made mainly of wood it wouldnt be too safe, its never safe to smoke in an enclosed wood area.
