The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park covers around 8000 km2 in the centre of East Java Province. It is the Largest volcanic region in teh province and ther stand Mount Semeru the Highest Active Vulcano Mount in Java Island and 2nd one in Indonesia. At its northern end is the spectacular Tengger Caldera, largest in java, with 10 km barren desert-like sea of sand.
