When I used to live with my family (when I was younger), I watched soap operas because the ladies at home watch them. Actually, once I get interested in the storyline, it makes me wonder what would happen next especially if the story line is fast paced. I remember when I was younger, some soap operas here in the Philippines would last for years. Thankfully, now, the story ends within a few months.

Now that I live on my own, I prefer to go online on my freetime. :)

I use to watch soap operas. But it has been so long that when I try to watch them I get lost in the different plots. I work on the weekends and have alot of stuff recording on tivo. so during the week I try to catch up on my tivo. If i'm caught up on that i'll usually put in a movie.

Of course, I do. I've been a fan for years. I used to tape on my VCR or watch reruns on SOAPNET if I couldn't catch it during the day. The quality of the writing has gone down considerably since I first started watching though, so now I just download or watch streaming clips online of certain characters and couples I've loved through the years.
I like watching movies, too. It just depends on what mood I'm on. Movies can satisfy me in one way that soaps cannot, and vice versa. Movies are, obviously, shorter than soap operas. I can watch for one or two hours and know at the end that the story will be over (unless it's part of a trilogy). Soap operas, however, are never ending. One thing that soap operas provide, that I can't get from movies or prime-time shows, is a continuation of family lineage. Where else can you see a character grow up before your very eyes and years later see said character's children and grandchildren having their own drama-filled stories?
With family, I often just watch movies. It's shorter and more convenient. My sister watches some soap operas as well, but we just catch up with them on our own individual spare time.

I usually don't watch soap operas because i find it boring in the long run, then comes down to just one ending...but now im really liking this particular seni-serye because it only lasts for 3weeks and the pace of the story is very fast.."Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara". Thats about it, after that i turn on to Lifestyle Network.

Honestly, I do not watch local soap operas (I am from the Philippines). I find them very boring because their plots are very predictable. Besides, you see the same faces over and over. Just like the others who have responded to this discussion, I also like Days of Our Lives. I used to watch General Hospital when I was younger. I also watch Sunset Beach when I was in college.

I rarely watch soap operas, but not the ones here from the U.S - I seldom watch ABS-CBN TFC (The Filipino Channel) which is highly known and popular in the Philippines which has all sorts of filipino soap operas and by far they are the best to watch - and believe me they do put people into tears. I watch "Maging Sino Ka Man", "Pangarap Na Bituin", "Maalala Mo Kaya", "Bituing Walang Ningning" - it is quality, shows like this keeps you watching them and for the next to come.
But I prefer movies of all types - comedy, horror, drama, mafioso movies, based on the true story movies and the like. I keep up to date with the new and latest movies that are upcoming. Also what new released DVDs have already debut in stores.

I would prefer watching a very good movie but if I don't find a good flick, I will not mind watching soap operas. I do follow few of them.

I'll watch them when I have nothing else to watch. I use them sometimes as inspiration for my own stories whenever I'm in a writing mood.

I like watching soap operas. It is a very relaxing TV program and you can have a rest for your mind. Most soap operas are very funny and I do enjoy it. Besides it won't spend you a long time watching it. Usually it takes about half an hour watching it.

I only watch one soap opera and that is All My Children. other shows i enjoy watching are Wife Swap, Supernanny, House, and Extreme Makeover Home Edition. I watch the soap opera by myself. The other shows my b/y will watch with me some. If the whole family watches something it is usually cartoons or a family movie we all will watch.
