My husband ruined our pork roast

i know he was just trying to be helpful, but we had to throw the whole roast away. I was going to cook the roast on Monday with saurkraut and potatoes and onions. When I make this I cook the roast until done then add the potatoes and onions to the broth. After they have cooked about 30 minutes add the saurkraut. My husband put the roast and the saurkraut into the crock pot on Sunday afternoon while I was at work. He cooked all night and all day on Monday. It was so horrible even the dog wouldn't eat it. He felt really bad. He knows that we cant afford to waste food. That would have fed us for 2 days atleast. Has your spouse ever tried to help and had it backfire like this?

When we were dating my husband tried to help with my laundry. Long story short, my cashmere sweater ended up in the dryer. My husband is a very good cook, so that isn't a real problem, usually. And while for the moment you or I could be angry or upset, I think that it is still better that people in a marriage help one another. Yes money is tight. But a month from now it isn't even going to be on the radar, and I would still want my husbands help. Not a bunch of hurt feelings. Sometimes people hang on to stuff too long.

I agree it is better to help each other. The thing is my husband can cook. He just didn't know how to do the roast. When I asked him Sunday night if he didn't think he was cooking it to long he kinda got upset. So I just let him do it his way. It is kinda funny now.

Aaawwww...poor guy probably feels terrible especially with food prices being what they are. Accidents happen and we just have to shrug it off and move on. Hopefully it will turn out better the next time around. Hubby doesn't cook very often but when he does it generally turns out well...knock on wood. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

My husband can actually do laundry at the laundry mat just fine, but not at home. There is a tricks to using our washer. I hang everything up to dry.

I am a husband and I can cook, so I have to sympathize with your hubby. Your husband probably meant well and was trying to chip in to do the cooking, so while you have reason to get mad over the spoiled roast, don't be too hard on him. It will make him feel awful, and that may discourage him from helping next time, and kill his enthusiasm. Perhaps next time, do another roast TOGETHER with him step by step, so he will learn the finer points of cooking from you. It will be a good learning experience for him, and you will help make him a better cook.

My husband can cook. He make fantastic pasta and seafood. He just had never done a roast before. The thing that I was ticked about was him getting defensive when I tried to tell him he was cooking it to long. Oh well. It's over with now.
