I have heard that you can teach hamsters to do tricks. Any ideas on how to go about doing this? Do you give them treats? If you do, what kind? What tricks have you taught your hamster? Any advise on this would be greatly appreciated. Also, what kind of homes does you hamster have?

You could do something similar to with fish, where you make a noise (eg. ring a bell) right before you fill up their food bowl. If you do it every time you fill it up, in a few weeks if you make the noise they come running to the food bowl expecting food. Or so it's said. I can't imagine what else you could want a hamster to do? :)

You would teach a hamster tricks like you would train any animal, but it is harder to do. Yes, you would give them treats, but only if they do what you want them to do. You can get treats from any pet store and you ask someone who works there if you need help.
btw, my daughter typed this out above..:)

Thank you! There is a pet store in my area that I shop at regularly so I will check with them and see what they got. Tell your daughter I said thank you! :)

My hammy can do a trick and it's always fun when I see her doing the trick in front of other people. Actually, i don't really know if its a trick but i am still proud that only my hammy can do that among all my friend's hammies. I love placing my hammy on high places so she may play or walk around and we she get tired, i'll just open my hands and my hammy will jump through my hands.
