Not as pets, but in our yard. I don't know what kind they are, but that are very large and pretty. You can only see them at night as thats the only time they come around. We had two kois in our pond and I think the owls got them. Does anyone else have owls around their property?

They are beautful birds ! There are not any around my yard or area . My gram used to have a pair and I would always here them hooting away. I do also think they are a sign of good luck !

I think you are very fortunate to have owls in your yard, I think they are a symbol of goodluck, I don't think there would be many people to be so lucky as you, to have such beautiful things of nature in your own yard is such a blessing...

We have owls in our yard or at least nearby our yard. I have never seen them, but my children and I have heard them many, many times over the past few years.
Through listening to different sound clips online, we have determined that we have at least two different types, the Barred (not barn) owl and the Great Horned Owl.
The Barred owl sounds amazing! Nothing at all like the typical "hoot, hoot". I hope someday to actually be able to see one in our yard!
The Great Horned Owl is always fun to listen to since it sounds relaxing, at least to us anyway. I especially enjoy listening to one owl calling out and hearing another owl respond to it.
One night, my kids and I heard several of the Barred owls in some sort of a verbal argument outside...it was kind of eerie, but fascinating at the same time.
