Everytime we buy something we don't need it deflects from trying to earn money. I am trying to teach myself this message as well because I used to be such an impulse shopper. I really didnt have the money but if there was any in my bank account I had to be out spending it. This doesnt help me. If we try to buy only what we need and maybe an Occasional small splurge our money may start to pile up and we can turn the broke tide. I used to be such a spend thrift when I first started working at 16. I grew up w/ my basic needs but w/ NO extras at all and so when I started earning my own money I stock piled it. Later I learned the joys of spending and that all went downhill.

It's true that if you resist impulse buying and wasteful spending that you'll come out further ahead. I watch what I spend but also get Hubby and I a couple treats each month. Stores are geared and set up to try to get as much money out of you as humanly possible. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

That is exactly the way I think also. I work online all the time to make money to pay off bills and to help provide things for my husband and my daughter. I only buy things if we have to have and sometimes if we need it or just want it but that don't happen very often. I am trying to get ready for my husband to retire also.

That is a famous saying. I think sometimes I will buy something that is not necessary. I will keep this motto in my mind and try to save more rather than spending it in vain.

I know, I saved up my savings for months and then have a terrible shopping spree buying stuff I thought I can't live without which later becomes useless. Or I don't buy it and regret it for the rest of my life

I am much better about saving than my husband is at it. He is a horrible influence. He always wants to take me out to dinner or buy this. If there is money in his pocket he wants to spend it. I am always the nagging one saying no we dont have the money or no we need that for the bills later.

it is ironic , first everybody tells you to become debtfree, once you get there, they tell you to get "tradelines" (like credit-cards , helocs and car-loans) in order to show you are "creditworthy" in order to apply for refinancing of your house for instance. because "subject shows insufficient credit history", in order to bolster up your FICA score, in order ot get a better rate, and the circle of madness starts all over again!!!!!! www.mylot.com?ref=hd1027

I have done a much better job doing the past year or so. For the longest time, I would do a lot of frivilous shopping and buying things that I did not need at all, but now I've managed to curb all of the spending. I've gotten a lot of different programs to help me, whether it's the "Keep the Change" program that rounds my spending and puts it into the savings account automatically and I also have direct deposit put some into my savings for every check.

I was ever such an impulse shopper when I was a student and never cared about how much I spent when I went out shopping as I had enough pocket money got from my mother by month. But never do so when I graduated and started to work, there was no cash support from my parents and my salary was too little to affort my expense. At that time, I rarely went out shopping and understood how to make savings. Till now, I kept this good habit.

hey! it is really good "A Penny saved is a penny earned". Well I believe that when you start earning money you what to buy whole lot of things for yourself, for your family or your boyfriend, but after a gap of time you realize that saving is getting. When a stage comes with responsibilities on you then you think how to save money. I believe that it happens with everybody, first they spend lot then gradually by time they realize the importance of money. like you did. This is for me too.

Most people live beyond their means especially with plastic. Try your best to live beneath your means. When shopping, remember you have only 1 body and 1 pair of feet - go easy on your dresses and shoes!
