What word do you use for coke, pepsi, dr. pepper, etc? Pop, soda, soda pop and where are you from? Interesting to see the differences.....some have asked me what pop meant? (did I want to fight?) Others asked me if I meant baking soda when I've used the word soda... Everyone seems to know soda pop when the two words are together....what word do you use?

I usually say soft drink. I am from Indiana. I have also been know to say buy a coke while you are out, but sometimes I have used the word coke, by meaning, to get a soft drink while at the store LOL. Sometimes I end up with actual coke and sometimes I don't LOL.

LOL. that is funny about the coke, pepsi thing. I have had that happen to me also. I think soft drinks would be easier for us LOL, to make sure we get some kind of cola. We could say carbonated drinks too LOL.

lol.....yeah, same happens here sometimes.....it makes me crazy when I go somewhere and say coke and they say "we only have pepsi, is that ok? or that they only serve coke.....not pepsi.....just gimme some cola (but then I would probably get some really weird looks!!)

Most call it softdrinks. There's a few who call it cola. That's here in the Philippines. But for some people, it's just Coke since that's the more popular drink.

Yep, it's definitely interesting to know what's what in different places. The kitten's doing a lot better, thanks for asking!

I guess that I am weird but Coke is Coke and Pepsi is Pepsi. I never called them by any other name. I know that in different areas they are called soda and pop etc., and when people say that I know what they mean and it does not make any difference to me what they call it. Some folks do seem to feel strongly about what you call different carbonated drinks. I am from florida and down here you hear them called everything because you get people from all over. Maybe that is why here, it does not matter as much what you call them.

heh, if I go somewhere and order a coke and all they serve is pepsi, they always ask....is pepsi ok? That one drives me nuts! But you're right, they each have a different name and different taste......

I call it soda, as it usually is here in Massachusetts. I've also heard it called tonic by older generations here, and I do double takes when my friends in the midwest say "pop" :P
