I am planning to make a mac and cheese for this weekend. Me and my spouse had tried mac and cheese which is ready to cook before. But we just eat it without any side dish for them. Is there any side dish which we can eat together with mac and cheese? What you guys usually have with your mac and cheese? I am planning to make my own mac and cheese from the recipe which I got here because I think the ready to cook one is expensive even though I like the ingredients.

Broccoli, salad, and other green veggies always pair up well with any type of mac and cheese.

Boil? Ew. Don't boil your veggies, steam them. They are much better and retain more of their nutrients. If you don't have a steamer basket, you can microwave them. If you don't feel like cooking veggie,s you can always serve some raw like a veggie plate with the meal or make a nice side salad.

I noticed that you will had ground beef in the mac and cheese. I always think corn is a great veggie with mac and cheese! beef or no beef. For some reason it tastes so well together.
I dont think its a side dish, but I love it!
This was started a month ago, so what did you end up eating with your meal?

You know, I ended up with a ground beef and some whole corn kernel in my mac and cheese. And I made a cheese stick, some baked chicken and some fried sausages...hahaha I know it is so much for me and my spouse, but my spouse is a heavy eater that he can eat almost everything if I cook for him. But after those heavy meal we have a fruits in plain yogurt and some pineapple...this at least helps me to breath a bit easy after those foods.

I like mac and cheese too!
But I don't know how to cook it by myself.
I always go to restaurant to have it.
one of my favorite is TGI Friday's Mac and Cheese Bites.
It is a side dish, fried mac n cheese.
very tasty~
Never tried Mac and Cheese as a main dish so I am not sure what is perfect for it.

I never have the fried mac and cheese, but I have made the one which always appear on the internet. My next mac and cheese will be the baked one. I think I will serve it with some baked chicken and potato, toasted bread with butter and may be a garlic bread sticks. I think my spouse and his Pakistani friends will love it as they eat very heavy things all the time.

I use mac and cheese as a main dish by topping it with fried onions and cubed ham or sausage. As a side dish I serve a crisp green salad with vinegar and oil dressing. I hope you are successful with your recipe to make mac and cheese from scratch.

For me, mac and cheese is the side dish and I would serve a meat entree with a side of vegetables or a salad. Now if you added some sort of protein, such as ground beef, chicken or ham into the mac and cheese this then could become your main dish. But alone mac and cheese has very little to offer other then carbs.

I will have a ground beef in my mac and cheese that's why I am asking for the side dish for it. I am planning to make all the food if I have the side dish for this mac and cheese and just put it on the table so that we can eat it together with the mac and cheese. It is because we already get used to eat plain rice with a few other dish such as fish, chicken or beef and vegetables in one time. I mean to be eaten with the plain rice at the same time. So I thought if there is anything for me to prepare to be eaten with the mac and cheese, then it would make my spouse full otherwise he will try to find some other thing when the mid night is coming.

a lot of people serve a hot dog with it
I like to serve it with fish dinners
I also like a green vegetable such as fresh green beans, broccoli, or peas.
on the mac and cheese I like sauteed onions and tomato slices on top as well as a scattering of bread or potato chip crumbs - then bake it in the oven to warm through hot and bubbly.

Mmmmm....mac and cheese. I haven't had any in so long. We would make hamburgers and serve the mac and cheese on the side, we have added tuna or beef or even cream of chicken soup to the mac and cheese and paired it with a veggie. Mac and cheese is one of those things where you can do almost anything with it. When I worked in pre-schools we always cut up hot dogs in it for the kids. I hate hot dogs, so this was never a favorite of mine. Just use your imagination and I bet you can come up with a great meal.

Ok actually I am a bit confuse with peoples term of side dish. But my side dish mean is another dish which I can prepare which I can eat together with the main dish. Ok let say I have recipe for mac and cheese which I will add ground beef/chicken and cream chicken mushroom soup, I would say this will be my main dish. And is it ok if I just fry the sausage, toast a bread and put some butter on it and serve it together with my mac and cheese in other plate?
