I finally got caught up... Thoughts on Shippuuden!

I've been waiting forever to get caught up with watching Naruto Shippuuden because I was waiting for my husband to finish watching the original series. I'm finally (almost) caught up, if I understand right... I'm up to episode 42. I was downloading 43, but the fansubbing group had a problem with the file, so I haven't seen that one yet.
I'm actually really surprised at how different Shippuuden is! The perspectives are a little different in the art sometimes, more surreal. I wasn't really expecting the profanity either, though it makes sense with the younger characters growing up I suppose.
I thought that whole Gaara storyline got a little long, but I did enjoy most of it, and I love the character development when it comes to Gaara and his siblings! I just felt like I didn't need to see the same clips of Sasori's history a billion times, or a few of the other clips that got repeated. Sure, everyone uses reusable animation once in a while, but this was a bit too much for me.
Having said that, I'm still insanely excited about watching more! I'm kind of sad that I've caught up in a way, because now I have to wait to see what happens next!
Anyone else have thoughts on Shippuuden they'd like to share with me, since I've finally watched it?

wow. what an anime freak. LOL i just caught up with the series the other weekend. now i'm watching episode 45. where do you get your episodes? i only watch at crunchyroll. ^__^
i thought the gaara story was long too. but i didn't mind it because gaara is one of my favorite characters. ^__^ but yes! they did it too much with sasori's past! there was a time that i actually fast forwarded it because i had too much of it. and i think everything's kinda slow. the development of story and action is slow. but i guess that's always been the case with naruto. ^__^ i'm still happy with the Gaara story and i was happy to know that he is now the kazekage of their village.
i don't like the character of Sai though. reminds me of sasuke. and i don't like sasuke. i just hope orochimaru would soon take his body fast. LOL
i'm excited about the movie. i saw the trailer and i was shocked to learn that naruto will die! i can't wait already. that would really be a tearjerky scene! i wonder who will revive naruto back to life? i wonder if sakura will use the same technique that sasori's grandma used on Gaara... hmm... can't wait. ^__^

I just download mine from the dattebayo fansubbing group's website. They put up bittorrent links each week for them.
Gaara is pretty awesome, and I liked all the parts that actually had him in it. It was just the length of some of the fights and those flashbacks that made me wanna scream. :P
Oh, dear, I haven't heard anything about the movie yet really! I don't talk to many people that watch anime offline, so I don't hear all the juicy stuff!

yeah! gaara was awesome! and even if he did change his outlook in life, there's still the air of creepiness and scariness around him. LOL
you can look for the trailer of the movie at youtube. the trailer is being shown during the OP/ED credits of shippuuden right? i thought then that it wasn't a movie but a part of the series, a second story arc. i got so frustrated when i learned that it was a movie. i'm gonna wait for a long time! .

Shippuuden is Awesome, although i haer what was being said about the characters. Alot of characters have taken a back seat at the moment to concentrate on the main Naruto sasuke story line.
I love how much more modern the new series is tho, in the changing of the way alot of the chars dress, especially naruto, much prefer his new outfit to the old bright orange all over one.
Im now curious whats going to happen to Gaara since the Jinchuuriki been removed.

its taking way too long. battlea re taking ages, theyre having staring contests. i know theyre not tryna catch up too quickly with the manga, but theyre just diluting it with crap. other than that, its alright. not as good as the original run though i rekcon

Ah, I actually hadn't thought about the issue of catching up to the manga! I guess that does explain why the battles are taking forever!
I don't think it's as good as the original so far yet either, but I suppose I could change my mind if they really blow me away.

Ah, I'll have to read more of the manga as well. I've only read the ones that have come out in the US so far, so I'm not very far along. I suppose I could start searching for fan-translated ones out there, but so far I've just been waiting for them to come out.

Shippuuden is great. Right now its up to 44...DB did have a problem last week with a faulty file, but they fixed that.
Anyway, you should read the manga too. Its like 4-5 arcs ahead of the Episodes. Right now Chapter 386 is in the middle of the battle between Sasuke and Itachi. There's A LOT to go on the anime. But I like the fight scenes better on the anime then in the manga because to me...its just a big ball of mess. But I read the manga for the storyline. I like how the story gets so much more intense and deep in a way. So many things happen to evolve all characters...including Sai.

You're right, I really should get into reading the manga. So far I've only read what's out in the US, which means I'm not even up to Shippuuden stuff at all. I'll have to start finding it online and catching up. Maybe that will be my goal for today, since I'm off work. :)
You have a good point about fight scenes being better in anime. It's so much more exciting than in manga, where it does indeed look like a big ball of mess!

naruto shippuuden anime kinda boring to watch IMO, since much of the episodes consits of too many blah blah blah plus some flash backs...that's why I'd prefer reading the manga ^_^, boy I hope Itachi pawns sasuke again lol...

Yep, I was a little thrown off by the art at first too, but it's not bad, just different.
Hehe, I want to know what happens to them in the end too! I'm so excited because I'm also reading the manga, and I just wait on the edge of my seat for each next part to come out!

Apart from the fact that some of the battles take too long (Gaara vs Deidara) and some of the battles are disappointing (Maito Gai vs Kisame, two of my favorite characters), I think Shippuuden's great. Let's hope that the current battle (Orochimaru vs Naruto) is an improvement over the other recent battles.
Naruto, IMO, is at once blessed and cursed by an overabundance of characters. There are so many that people will have many to choose their favorite(s). But this also means that some characters will be redundant, like Tenten.
Still, Shippuuden is a great anime, and I would continue to watch this.

Yes, I was a little disappointed with the Gai vs. Kisame one too!
You have a good point about the character thing. There are so many characters, and while some of the side characters are very well-developed, others aren't at all! I would really love to actually know something about Tenten personally, other than the fact that she seems to crush on rich guys, or rich girls disguised as rich guys. :p
I do think it's great though, and I can't wait to see more!
