Does your young child complain about sock "bumps"??

Sock "bumps" is at the toe where the two pieces of the sock are sewn together. I thought I was alone in this with my youngest daughter but having just talked to another mom, I am not alone. We are slowing getting out of this phase, but it lasted for about 18 months, from when she was 4 to 6 1/2 years old. Our solution is to buy socks that are made out of nylon, not the cotton type Hanes socks. Anyone else living through the bumps??

I guess I am lucky because this has never bothered me. And trying to understand her frustration at first was hard, but now whenever we buy socks, my first question is how is the bump? We haven't purchased socks since school started. It was funny the other day my 6 year old said to me, "Do you remember when the socks bumps bothered me?" I said "yes". She then replied well they haven't bothered me in a long time. Was I relieved but I didn't want to tell her she hasn't gotten any new socks since September.

My kids never complained about it, but my husband does! Drives the poor guy nuts.

When I was younger, I remember my dad complaining but he had an artificial leg so the bumps did bother his stump. But when my youngest started to complain, I thought what! Never had to deal with it with my oldest.

Every once and awhile my son would complain. I started buying hanes socks because they are sewn differently (across the top of the foot) and don't have the bunching problem. I really can't say anything though, because I hate sock "bumps" as well.

My daughter is going through this right now. She will refuse to leave her shoes on until the sock "bump" is situated just right. This has been going on for over a year. Change socks, (duh me) why didn't I think of that?

This is sooo funny. I havent ever heard of them called sock bumps before, but, yes...i have dealt with them. My oldest daughter is now 19. When she was smaller she would absolutely throw a fit about her socks...I used to hate getting her dressed cause I knew that would be an issue. We would take her shoes off and fix her socks soooo many times. Im so glad she got over it. My other kids have never had problems.

Your discussion brought back memories. My daughter did for a brief period of time. But I can remember when I was little and those things would drive me crazy. My complaining about would drive my mom crazy. I guess I finally figured out how to put on my socks so they wouldn't bother me since they haven't bothered me in a very long time.

My son has been complaining about his socks sine before he could talk! It drives me crazy. Every time I find the perfect pair of socks, I try to stock up on them because who know when I might find acceptable ones again. I do know a couple of adults who hate it, and lots of kids too, so I know it's pretty common.
