What is the best form of exercise for you?

I think I've tried them all from 'Sweatin To The oldies' tapes to Pilates and the only thing that seems to work for me is good old walking. I have a membership to my local YMCA and it has awesome work out machines with a whirlpool, sauna and everything else anyone could ask for but I just can't get myself to go even though I could walk there in 10 minutes. Walking is what does it for me. It's healthy and keeps the weight down. There is no preparation other than making sure I'm dressed warm enough when I go out in the winter.
What form of exercise works best for you? Are you more of the gym type with work out machines? Do you like to do exercises at home with CD's or DVD's? What do you like the best?

many moons ago when I was knee high to a grasshopper I would jog a couple miles daily. Now my only exercise is achieved from my walking Buaster or running through the house and or yard with him. he loves it and we both stay in shape from this. HAHAHAHA!! That's all I do as far as exercise except when I go to the casino then I'll use their exercise room and just the treadmill. I've never been to any type of health club for this either. NEVER! I've toured a few thinking about joining but that's about it.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

lol....when I had my ferrets I used to chase them through my apartment. Not hard to do since I only have 3 rooms but it was fun and exercise for all of us.

For me, walking is the best form of exercise. I sometimes enjoy it if the weather is pleasant. I am supposed to do 9000 steps each day to loose weight. There is a pleasant park & creek nearby where I sometimes walk.
I get out of the habit when it is very hot or very cold, or I am too busy & it's hard to get back into the habit I'm afraid.
I'm thinking I should try oner of those DVD's.

For me the best form of exercise is badminton. I enjoy it so much and I get to share the time with my friends and I love playing with them coz itscool and I get the chance to move all the parts of my body.
And the greatest thing is that I sweat a lot evry after badminton session and its really fulfilling and the next to badminton is dancing, ilove todnace and like badminton in dancing I can also move all the pars of my body and I also swaet a lot after every dancing session.
Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Due to the cold in our Northeast area, I like working out at home. With wind chill, lately, sub-zero. So free dancing to music and weight lifting with some self-defense or Martial arts and/or Middle Eastern Dancing thrown in for good measure. I like walking in Spring, Summer, or Fall. Snowshoeing would be cool if it wasn't so cold out. But lately, snows, very cold, gets warm and the snow melts, then starts all over again.
I like to work out with Fit TV sometimes and with CDs for music or with DVDs. I like variety. But you can't beat the birds and the scenary when walking, esp. on back roads, on the beach, or in the woods.

Walking is very good exercise, and I do walk a lot, but I don't like to walk in the winter when the ground is slippery. I go to a gym and use an exercise bike and an elliptical trainer. I also work out with weight machines to keep my muscles strong. When I stopped working out with weights, I developed pains in my knee joints, but they went away after I began working with weights again. I'm 58, and I believe that working with weights can be important for older people, because that sort of exercise stimulates growth hormone, something that the body tends not to produce much of as one gets older.

The ULTIMATE best workout for me is outdoor biking...I LOVE to ride my bike in the warm months! And living where I do its a killer workout for me because its hilly etc but its country so I dont really have to worry about traffic etc which is super nice...Next best thing for me is the treadmill at home in the cold months or on rainy days...I also LOVE to workout with wts but with some of the medical issues I have now the free wts are becoming more and more difficult to use so I'm savign up to get a homegym (we had one a few yrs back that I loved but moving it to the U.S wasnt working since we didnt have room on the truck LOL)....
Like I said though the ULTIMATE thing for me is biking without a doubt..I can bike for hours and I dont casually bike, I like to power ride..

I used to go on a 2 hour walk in our sports center and jog once in a while, then it stopped when i stopped studying. Then i do have a DVD for Pilates and i once in a while watch it when i dont like going out. Right now im enrolled with a gym nearby for a month and im hoping i can loose the weight i gained last year.

I like to walk as excersize. I like to be outside more than in the gym. I love playing with the dogs in the backyard or at the dog park too and it's a pretty good workout. I do use the gym and the cardio and muscle building machines but it isn't as fun as being outside.

Well I also am a walker but it sucks in the winter because it is so cold here and i get cold very quick and stay cold. But I do love to walk if it is half decent out I grab my dog and we go for a nice long walk around the neighborhood.

According to me the form of exercise is by preparing you own food, washing your clothes , cleaning your house , using less vehicular transport as and when required, walking, climbing stairs, not using tub or shower for bath but using a mug would be a better exercise, walking , doing abdomen exercises like situps, spot jogging

I count on doing yoga everyday as it keep me fresh throughout the day. Doing yoga with 30 minutes into the medidation state helps me find spiritual strength and confidence. I also gained the concentration and it has also helped me getting more active through out the whole day.

I am with you on the walking, walking is low impact, and you can do other things while you do it, you can talk witha friend, you can read, if your a good multitasker, You can listen to music! You can also do it anywhere and dress anyway you like when you do it! I love going for walks just to walk, as long as the temperature outside is nice. Summer walking in teh sweltering heat isn't so good for your health, but if you can find somewhere airconditioned to walk in then that works! Even walking in the mall when your shopping burns calories right!?
I used to like to jog too, but i dont think i am capable of that anymore, its been too long, i'd have to work back into it slowly. I find when i am pregnant, i tend to excersize/walk far less, cause its harder!! lol. My friend has been driving me all over bless her! she really is a good friend!

All i do is walk now or ride my bike and lately i have not done much of either.I hate this cold rainy weather and i just stay in...I can tell you something about sweating to the oldies though because i use to do that all the time with Richard Simons, and i can tell you it works..I did that for a log time every morning a long time ago i bought that tape..I began to see a difference right away, and i really shaped up doing it to.but of course i was trying to lay off sweets and i lost a lot and got into good shape..I have been to the gyms too, paid a big price for a membership, and that did not last to long because you have to get out and go,then change cloths and do all the workouts, then go shower and put my street cloths back on..It was a pain, and took your whole day.I think you will like the oldies better...

Oh I love the 'Sweatin to the Oldies' tapes - I have 2. It's more that I love the music on them and tend to do my own 'dance' moves more than the actual excercises. I love to dance and would say particularly in the winter that is my best excercise - in warm weather, walking, swimming, and riding my bike are my favorites.

I prefer walking than using gym equipment, even though I do sometimes during the week. The form of exercise I like is walking with my ipod and walking to music.

I seriously need to get into an exercise routine, ctry, because it has been over a year since I've even tried. I used to be sort of luke warm when it comes to exercise, but after so many heartaches over the past year, I think I just gave up. I just started seeing a new doctor this week, and I noticed he was sneaking little glances at me occasionally as he put my data into the computer. I told my sister that I could just guess he was saying to himself that I really need to go on a diet, lol. I do know how beneficial exercise is, but I suffer from back problems that have been with me for years, and it's hard for me to start a new program. I'm going to do my best though.
