My husband. When we were all seniors in high school and planning on which college to go to, which majors to take to earn the most money and be the most successful, he enlisted in the Navy. He spent about 18 months in training, and when it came time to choose his next detail, he was encouraged to apply to the US Naval Academy, and was accepted (which is a feat in itself). And after all that, and 2 1/2 years of hard work at the Academy, when I told him we were pregnant, his first words were asking if I wanted to be married to a civilian or an enlisted man. I told him I wanted him to stay, which over time is what we decided was best. Now we are married, with our beautiful 15 month old girl, and he is a commissioned officer, ready to give himself for the defense of his country, and his family.
