Do you like the classic love songs? Obscure indie love songs? Punk rock love songs?
Do you like a certain feel or lyrics?
What would you say is the best love song of all time...or do you have a special song that has a meaning to you as a love song?

i currently like, and still like, "way back into love" from the movie "music and lyrics". ^__^ mainly because i can relate to every lyrics of that song especially to the second verse. ^__^;;
and then i like the theme song too of a korean drama series that i've watched before. the song is about loving in silence, expressing love not in words but by action because the female lead star is mute. i just love it because its a very touching and sweet song and it makes me sigh everytime i hear it and i would feel like crying because i would remember the ending of that show. T.T

I am so glad you started this discussion. I haven't thought about it in ages. My favorite love song is Faithfully by Journey. I used to have it on cassette, but haven't had this song in forever. Although, I love it when I catch it on a lunch hour radio special or something of that sort. Thanks for the memories. Have a wonderful day!

There are sooo many favorite love songs that I rate as "top" in my book, (or should I say top in my media player), that it's very hard to choose, but I would have to say the first one that popped in my head was "Adore", by Prince! The very first time I heard this song, me and my girls from work were at a Friday night happy hour where I met and danced with one of Philly's finest fireman to this song....wow such memories..20 years ago. How can I tell a love song is my fav you ask? The words make me cry...something I have been doing since I was 3 years old, when I first heard "Your Precious Love" by Jerry Butler! Really dating myself here aren't I, but I don't care..great songs, great memories!

my hubby is a huge prince fan!
that is a good way to guage a good love song by crying...
my parents were wedding singers so when i was 3 i was listening to bread & the carpenters...some of them make my eyes swell up a bit too
i will have to see what jerry butler is, never heard of him!

I like sappy old "classics" like Love is a Many Splendered Thing because it is a testament to how wrong the critics can be when they try to shape the public's "taste." Old ovie theme songs like An Affair to Remember also delight me, especially when sung by different people at different points in the same film. It is great fun to watch the 1939 version with Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer and then see the remake in 1957 with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. These movies make the song seem so ageless.
Although it is not exactly about romantic love (in a sense it is!) the theme from Don Quixote is a very nice love song, too, as is that admittedly vapid little number about Vincent Van Gogh called Starry Starry Night--I am a sucker for impossible dreamers.

i like the old movie theme songs too...but i don't know too many of their names/titles/etc.
starry starry night sounds interesting, will have to see if i can listen to it somewhere.
i think love can mean just about anything, so i am glad you included it!
