Is it because of magazines, movie stars, models, cosmetic surgery etc.
I know we need to be at a healthy range, but some people go to the extreme of being purfect and this controls there life to extreme that it is making them unhappy.
I'm now pretty happy with my weight as I found a natural capsule that helped me drop a couple of dress sizes. But now I need to tone up, so I guess I'm obsessed as well. I anyone wants some help with there weight I can help you, just ad me as a friend.
Now I need to get motivated and excercise.

Never quite understood the obsession with it. If you need a 2% body fat ratio or whatever the shax it's called to feel good you need a hobby, very very badly. And diet pills are something I'd never look at sideways. Natural or not it can't be good for you just from what it does.

because a lot of people think that weight is the basis of beauty...
Now it's skinny beautiful. I think at the time of the renaissance it's chubby beautiful...based on the paintings.

Your first line is EXACTLY why weight is an obsession for so many people. You can be healthy and not stereotypically like what you see in magazines and on television! There is a false perception in society that is heavily influenced by media and backed solidly by massive marketing. It's a multi-billion dollar business!

There are thousands of reasons people are obsessed about their weight. Some are for personal reasons (health benefits, look/feel better, on a TV show and want $$$ - see Biggest Loser/Celebrity Fit Club) and some are physical reasons (life threatening illness, want to walk a flight of stairs and not be out of breath) but I really wouldn't put the blame totally on society or the media. I guess it's a society-wide type of peer pressure, and like my dad asked me several times: "If all of your friends walked off of a cliff would you do it?"
To each their own I guess...
