Something weird happened in our house last night.

Last night, when we were just finishing up dinner, a picture fell off the wall. We have no idea what caused it, I just assumed there were small earth movements (we live in California where there are earthquakes) that we couldn't feel, but somehow sent vibrations through our home. So, I didn't think to much of it, I just grabbed the broom and the dust pan and went to clean the mess up. When I was finished, my 5 year old, was curled up in the corner with her back to us. I asked her what was wrong and went over to her. When I got there she was sobbing. I asked her what was wrong and she said she just didn't feel right. I asked her if the picture falling upset her and she said no, I just feel weird. I had no idea what she meant by this. I just held her for a little bit and rubbed her back until she calmed down. When I asked her if she was feeling better she said she was. I asked again, what exactly upset her because it was bugging me that she was so upset, but nothing seemed to cause it. Then all she said was, "sometimes I feel things that aren't really there." So what does this mean? Is there a ghost in my house or am I just reading to much into it? It was a weird incident to say the least.

You have to understand a child's mind. There are so much more in tune with the spiritual part of things. Being a Christian, I firmly believe in spirits, not ghosts that can come into our homes and try to destroy us. Children see these things sometimes or just feel their presence. I have had to pray over my home many times. my 2 yr old can sense when they are in the house and since she can't talk to me about it, she screams. I feel them then as well and begin praying immediately. Then they are gone. God bless

I have heard that children are more in tune with the spirit world. I'm curious about what you mean by destroy us. Do I need to worry about this?

I think really what it is, is not literally destroy as in kill, but to bring turmoil and fear into your family. I know many times, especially when my husband is home, that those spirits really know how to get to our family and bring in hate and fear. Do I believe that people that are not accepting of Christ can be possessed by these spirits, absolutely...but, if you have Christ in your life you need not worry about them actually getting in you. They can't because God lives in you, but they can surround you and taunt and try to tear your family apart. Your daughter just senses these things more because they are so young and so innocent and open minded when it comes to things like that. I don't think you will actually have to worry about anyone getting hurt or anything like that, but I would pray over your home if you pray and just rebuke those spirits in the name of Jesus that they are not allowed to be in your home. Pray over your family for protection against these spirits. Anything else I can help you with, just hollar at me. i'm usually on at night. God bless and keep me posted. p.s. children in sensing or seeing these types of things get very scared. it might be good if this happens again that you ask her if she would like to pray and you pray with her that God will take away her fear. Children that can actually see them, which, i believe that my daughter can, can be very stressed over this and need that security from the parents

Yes, it is weird, really weird. Is the house new or old? Has anybody lived there before you? I've never seen a ghost, but I've heard that in our old town (medieval) are houses with ghosts. And there are not just some freaks who are seen them. FE our town museum should have at least one, because the museum workers have seen it or felt it's presence.

Our house is fairly new. It is about 3 years old and we are the first residents. However, in learning more about the area, we live near or possibly on an Indian burial ground. So, maybe it has something to do with that. I of course learned this after moving here, but I don't think it would change my mind about living here. I probably still would have bought this place. I've heard about old houses being haunted too. There is a show on one of the cable channels about it. When I've seen the show it is mainly in old European towns with the ancient buildings. Those shows fascinate me, however I can't bring myself to watch them when I'm home alone :)

It is sound weird to me and I am sure you daughter have felt something that time. I am not sure with you but for me things like this I always relate it to something which is what I called as a ghost. You know, small kids sense is not like us the adult, the can see or feel something which is not seen by our eyes. But don't worry, I think nothing bad will happen may be it is just passing by and accidentally hit the picture.

feelings are a by-product of what you believe. if this is the case it is important to be skeptical of feelings. Why treat the by-product of a belief as near-equal to "things as they are"? Feelings are already twice removed from "things as they are". Take responsibility for feelings, and you can control them. If unpleasant sensations and feelings exist, then determine whether the feelings correspond to what you believe. If they do not measure up properly then she should ignore them and focus on making sure she has good, healthy beliefs. In this way you can improve what she feels and she will also cope better with anything that perists. It is good to seperate feelings from beliefs. Since feelings come from beliefs, it is cyclic and sometimes dangerous to believe something because you feel it. Presupposing that feelings do come from beliefs than you can see why this could create a circular belief system that doesn't need to consult "things as they are". Interpreting "things as they are" is already a kind of response. Feelings are a response. To believe a feeling is to believe something that you already believe. Don't recycle feelings into facts. That's why its important to consuslt "things as they are" to form a belief, which forms a feeling. I'm not shooting from the hip here. I used to have lots of different phobias and so forth. I assure you that this is a very good way to handle it.
