Many a nights, I have spent without sleep, seeing as how I use to work in the graveyard shift.
The longest that Ive gone is about 48 hours and that just drove me bonkers... I was near the hallucinatory stage, and I was just out of it, no real grip for passing time and a lack of hunger...
How many hours have you gone without sleep? And what were the effects that came with the lack of rest?

Over 72 hours for me. It was over one Christmas when my nan was ill. Myself and my little sister were pretty much left alone in the house with our Christams presents.
After about 72 hours I remember feeling like I was on a rollercoaster. I was seeing people whizzing past me at high speed, even though I was sitting down.
Very strange.

I would imagine that its the worst situation when someone is ill, because not only are you not able to eat or sleep approprietly.. on top you have the dear one to stress about.
Which probably places the mind on overdrive.. and then no sleep.. wow hope to not go thru that rollercoaster myself...
Hope you dont have another one like that :D

Not exactly like that, no. I have gone almost as much as that voluntarily. Again iw as hallucinating, but I was simply seeing people who were not there... which was odd :S

lol, I've never thought of it like that. I think I'd rather pay... having to wait three days would be a bit of a drawback.

the longest that i've gone without a sleep is almost 48 hours or 56 hours. when i was in high school i really can last that long. but now, no more. especially that i am in the graveyard shift. it's really necessary to get some sleep. especially if you do it every night, no sleep.
i felt like floating in the air. can't think straight. keep dropping things. can't control my actions anymore. and my eyes are dropping. i've learned my lesson well.
i promised myself that i won't do that anymore.

I know what you mean. Seeing as how Ive also worked graveyard, I know the tribulation of going to work having had little sleep. I think when you work at night, sleeping becoming even more important, because even 8 hours sometimes is not enough. When a smaller amount would suffice for the dayshift.

Not only did we stay up the same amount of time.. but we both were irritable at the end of it...

Well at least in your situation it was worth the suffering...
Im sure many women must endure sleep deprived labors... which makes me joyful of being a male...
I dont believe I would have what it takes to endure the labor...

About 48 hours. I had to do it in the name of holding my college and my work. It was exhausted. And after that I promised to myself I wouldnt hold a college and a job at the sme time.

It is very difficult to handle two full time tasks simultaneously. And typically one of the two ends up suffering greatly...
