Well I am 26 weeks pregnant and now need to start thinking about what I will be doing with my new baby once a deployment comes up this year. I think it is difficult on children when their parent gets sent oversees but how do you handle it as a single parent? I already have 3 boys, so when I leave my children will go seperate places to be cared for while I am gone. Now it is starting to scare me to wonder how my children will cope with my absence.

Hello tamararacine,
First of all, Congrats on soon to be a mother of yet another child. I believe they will be proud of you.
As for adjustment of children to deployment, I had hoped that you would be getting at least 1 year's leave (with pay) with your newborn!? I don't know exactly how it works there, but it's only natural to leave a mother with new born.
After that or anyway, this life is tough and one has to adjust. Tell them be brave, like the children of a soldier! a soldier's child doesn't get as much of his/her parent's attention as he/she deserves but then there's national duty and someone has to do it!

Thank you!
Well, unfortunatly the military only gives you 3 months once you have a child to deploy. I know it will be hard on my younger boys 2 and 4 because they do not understand. But, my 8yr old watches way to much tv and keeps asking me if am going to die..
