I use Ubuntu. actually Kubuntu, which is Ubuntu with the KDE desktop. I have a dual boot XP/Kubuntu system. I normally boot into Kubuntu because it is less of a drag on this old computer. Kubuntu takes me less than a minute to boot up, where it takes XP about 15 minutes to boot up. I only boot into XP if I HAVE to. I use FireFox in both OS's and also use Mozilla Thunderbird in both. I use IMAP instead of POP3 so that I can keep my email synched in both OS's. Linux is so much more effecient with resources than Windows.
Needless to say, I like Ubuntu a lot.

I have used Ubuntu and found it to be a very good system.
The only problem that I had was trying to configure my wireless network card under Ubuntu. Linux does not use the Windows driver directly but extracts the firmware, which proved to be a real problem with Ubuntu. I eventually used Mandriva to extract the firmware and copied it to Ubuntu, which would be unavailable if I ran Ubuntu only.

Ubuntu is the best linux distro I have used. it has pretty much simpler interface and is a real beast if updated on the net.It has very good multimedia features amd for viewing wallpapers it is the best.

Ups and Downs of Ubuntu.
To be honest, there are no downs. But many will say gaming is virtually non-existent. I don't seriously game so I wouldn't know.
The ups. Well, it's free. As someone who works from home, that's a really big deal because less money spent on the operating system means more money saved. That also goes for most applications that I use, I don't need to buy them so I save more.
