Japanese primary school students are using cellphones to read books, listen to music, chat with friends and surf internet.About ninety six percent high school students say they can't live without it.

Yes, thats true and not even in japan but in some asian country that young people are actively using a cellphone as their primary necessity in their everyday life. And I am also an avid user of cellphone and my day is not complete if I have no cellphone in my hand.
