Am a published author looking to broaden my horizons.
Can anyone tell me the best job sites for freelance opportunities?
Have had two children's books published and are nearly ready with my third. Although this one is a non fiction txt book type thing. Yeah, I know but it pays the bills. Trouble is royalties only come every three to six months. Landlords and supermarkets like to be paid weekly. Hence the need for a weekly pay check. Yes I have a day job but writing writing writing is my thing.

I agree with the others here who have mentioned Associated Content. http://www.associatedcontent.com I have wrote here and got paid some here. Have a lot more I actually need to try submitting sometime when I have time, and from time to time it helps getting my Writing juices for other stories or articles flowing as well.
Also another place I have considered is something like contributing to Magazines with some of my stuff, or even like Chicken Soup For The Soul. To me, I can never limit myself too much, and I am only hurting myself when I choose not to try and go from there.

Thank you for mentioning Associated Content, a site which I haven't traveled before. I've added it to my Favorites and will look into it later.
I've published articles on Helium and Triond. The amount I've earned? Well, I'm doing better here at mylot. Writing in a discussion forum, getting great feedback, not having to come up with a specific number of words as in an article, is a good fit for me at this time.

That's good that you got books published. I would guess possibly Associated Content since they do pay upfront but you have to be on the money as to what will be paid and what won't be. Also, are you good at promoting that would help out as well. There's also Helium but they don't pay upfront and it takes a lot of promoting and a lot of writing to really make money.

The two best writing sites I have found so far are associated content and helium. Helium has a marketplace, and they have publishers looking for stuff all the time on a variety of subjects, including some for some childrens stuff. Hope that helps.

Wow! Hun, I'd consider myself lucky that you got published. There are so many would be writers out there, myself included. I have peddled my writing to literally hundreds of places. I got scammed by most "online" publishers which made me more than a little angry and I got rejected rejected and in most cases not even replied to or paid attention to.
It's hard to get published but I wish you the absolute BEST of luck!

Hi Punky,
Always good to hear from another writer. Be encouraged and continue on. Eventually you will get published. In this business rejection just goes with the job. Try not to take it to personal and remember keep your head up; we want to see that smile.
As for me I will write till it makes me happy.

Associated content is awesome. I have to jump on the band wagon for ths one. You can earn money pretty much every day if you write everyday. You get your base wich is a few dollars per article that you write, and also get paid a "commission" on your pageviews. A lot of people also write for helium as well. I personally have never written for them because I really like AC the best. check out my articles under Brian Cote.

I enjoy using associated content for supplemental income. It is a website where you can write and submit articles for upfront payments and performance based pay. Upfront offers for articles typically range from 3-10 dollars, with some offers being as much as twenty dollars. Performance pay is $1.50/1,000 page views. To begin with, it doesn't pay much, but after a few weeks/months the page views on all of the articles you submit add up to a nice bonus.
I would also try to put together a portfolio of short works (articles and the like) that are suitable for newspaper or magazine publication.
Although your passion might be longer works, shorter work does pay the bills more quickly with less investment of time and energy.

Hi,
Have you tried Elance? The rates are often low but you might make contact with someone who wants regular work from someone a bit better than the norm (ie, you). There's a site I used to get newsletters from, but I've lost track of them since Outlook Express ate my emails... If I can find them again I'll let you know.
