Ever do this? Right now I'm exhausted but feel like starting new topics - and finally watching the last bit of the last Lost episode from the first season. Why do you think we do this. Partly for me, its having time to myself after spending a day with baby - whom I love - and who is asleep at theis very moment in my arms = well in my lap - with his head and shoulders laying on my left forearm - owee.

I am so tired, but I'm up and plan to be for quite a while. In general, I don't like sleep. The only time sleep isn't a 'burden' to me is when it is in the daytime and it is rainy weather, and I'm kind of lulled to sleep. I don't sleep much anyway, but frankly I don't like sleep, even though we all need it. In your case it sounds like you are having a perfect end to your day. It makes me feel all good thinking of your sweet little one. Thank goodness for babies who give us hope for a better and brighter future.

It does feel perfect - and yes thank goodness for babies and hope - although I want to be part of a better and brighter future by my actions too. I love sleeping, I love dreaming - right before sleep and during - snuggling back under warm blankets on cold winter mornings. But I also get into periods like this - just staying up surfing and watching web tv! Love the new avatar!

I am the same way. I could be almost falling out of the chair tired, but i stay up anyways. Some has to do with loving to respond here on mylot, and some as to do with waiting for my husband to get online so i can talk to him before he starts his day. There are some days though that I can't seem to muster up the strength and end up falling asleep with my daughter at like 9 at night. Most of the time though I am, and have always been, a night owl. love staying up late, but hate getting up in the mornings...which is difficult when i have three children. Thanks for sharing and God bless

My husband works nights - contracting to Customs on the Air force base and gets home at twelve - when I give in to my exhaution - I'm asleep by like eight or nine but sometimes I stay up and up and up. Of course he gets to sleep in, I have to get up with the baby!

I think that's it - mommy is the comforter - daddy the fun one. I bet soon the tables wil change when he wants more fun! Not that I'm not fun!

I do this all the time. Once my kids are in bed I love the peace and quiet, I dig into a book and when I look up again it's very, very late. I'm a single parent and homeschooling a disabled child who requires a lot of care, so after 10pm is my only "me" time. I have to set an alarm to get up and give her meds at 4am, and lately, more often than not, I find I'm just staying up to give them to her then crashing until the next dose at 8am.

So how many hours of sleep do you get? I can totally understand wanting you time. My mom always says that having a child is the hardest - but most rewarding job you'll ever have. I respect you as a single parent, my mom was and I know its very hard. My son isn't disabled but I still want to homeschool him - what is it like for you?

I really enjoy homeschooling. It gives us a lot of leeway to study things that interest her and to work with her learning style. We used the Charlotte Mason curriculm from ambleside online, but we also wing it a lot. I download worksheets from Enchanted Learning and we get a lot of materials from the library as well. I don't think I could teach my younger child the same way, though. He really thrives on structure and I think the more relaxed environment at home would just keep him too distracted.

Yes every child is different. Everything I've read about homeschooling encourages me though. Many children thrive on it. They develop a real love of learning rather then the ability to learn by 'rote' to memorize temporarily, regurgitate the information for a test then forget it. I love that, within a certain structure they can still delve into topics that really interest them.

Well I am a night owl so I rarely go to sleep before 3am.I like to watch movies and respond to My Lot and the best time is late at night.

Yes...sometimes I just don't want to go to bed. I get up early so the night before my day off I love to stay up...but you have a really good reason to be hanging in there....give baby a kiss on the top of the head for me..just a butterfly kiss!

I will, I came out of the bedroom to eat some dinner my husband cooked and I can hear him back there making noises and 'talking' to my husband. Guess he woke up!
