As long as you pay attention to what you're doing I think it is very safe. Make sure you are on a secure site, and always investigate any suspicious emails you get from companies, even if they look legit. I think shopping online is so much safer than using your credit card in a restaurant. After all, in a restaurant, you hand your card to a complete stranger who disappears with it for a while, then brings it back!?!?!?!? But then again, the only time I was ever close to being a victim of identiy theft was over a check I wrote in a doctor's office. The receptionist was running the checks through the telecheck, then keeping the checks instead of shredding them. Needless to say, I no longer write checks and trust them to take care of it. I either watch them shred it or get it back.

I have been using credit cards online for over 5 years now and I have never had any problems. I always use the sites taht have the little secrue lock on the page and I use paypal whenever possible. My credit cards don't have that high of limits so no one would want to steal them anyways.

Me, I don't have credit cards. Here in our place, only few has, only those rich people. But then, I think shopping online using credit card is not safe anymore. I have watch from news that people who used their credits card during shopping were also fooled and their cards are being copied. If those people who go shopping in person are fooled, how much more those who are shopping online.
