Foriegn objects in the laundry

I did it again. I forgot to take the kleenex out of my pockets and when I emptied the dryer I had all this shredded kleenex stuck to my clothes. I do forget to clean out my pockets sometimes.....and sometimes I wear a pin on a blouse and forget to take that off too. Do you remember to clean out your pockets before you do the laundry and do you find foreign objects in the bottom of the washer or dryer?

That's a nightmare when it comes to doing laundry. Even though kleenex is biodegradable, it hangs around the washer and dryer for a long period of time like a bad habit. I do remember to clean out my pockets all the time. It's the first thing I do when taking off a pair of jeans that need to be washed. However, I have this husband who is a gum chewer. He doesn't put used chewing gum back in his pocket but sometimes forgets the wrappers are in his pocket. My husband coaches girl's fastpitch softball. Often they have an extra girl join the team for a tournament. A girl played with the team and my husband brought home the dirty uniform for me to wash. I didn't see the back pocket therefore I couldn't check it. It had a piece of chewed chewing gum in the wrapper in that pocket. I had gum all over the washer, my hands and the other clothes since I wash in cold water. It was a major mess. Rewashed the clothes two more times just as a precaution. Took awhile to get the gum off my hands also. I'll pay more attention the next time I get stuck doing that nasty job..lol

I remember, but my family doesn't and I don't check. So I have found everything from tissues, to money, to paperwork..

Since my parents let me do my laundry at their house, I also do theirs. I don't know how many times there are coins in the bottom of the washer because I didn't empty my dad's pant pockets. Oh well, at least someone is going to get some really clean money!

Yes they would. And I volunteer to launder more, but hopefully it will be in bills, not coins. : )

I rarely put things in my clothes pockets, but when I do I usually forget to remove these items before putting the clothes in the washer. I have mostly found hairbands and money (coins). Though the money is from my husband's pants pockets, not mine. LOL

hi jillhill. I always remember to clean out my pockets before I do the laundry. But one time I was washing my handbag and I forgot to empty the smallest pocket, where I keep my moisturizing lipstick. It was funy when I found my lipstick in the washing machine:). Somehow my lipstick was not broken or something, and I could still use it! have a nice day, jazgottt.

i usually try to check my husband's pockets. But sometimes we do forget and kleenex gets stuck in the pocket and comes out in a clump. I'm not sure whether it is this particular washing machine that is top loading, but the kleenex thankfully does not spread out over all the other clothes. Perhaps the clothes are not 'mixed' as vigourously as in a side loading machine. I guess it'll help if you had a lint remover. That is the fastest way to get rid of kleenex. When there are loose objects like coins I'm worried that it will spoilt the washing machine...

Laundry for me is a chore when it comes to my husbands clothes. He is a farmer and often goes to the stores each day to buy things he needs. He puts the receipts in his back pocket and leaves them there for me to find. When I asked him to please take them out and put them in the office where they belong for bookkeeping purposes he said well I figure if I put them in my back pocket you will get them and they won't be lost! So, now I have did it for so long that i don't really think about it. But he is right..haven't lost a receipt yet!! lol

Kleenex and tissues are the ones I also forget to check on my pockets, since I only get to feel them if they have hard objects inside them before putting them inside the washing machine. No, I haven't experienced something that got left inside the washer/dryer while doing my laundry.. Good thing I haven't left any paper bills in it, or else I would look like Mr. Krabbs from Spongebob crying over it!;)

Most of the time I remember to clean the pockets out of things before I put them in the washer but not always. I have left in pockets at times, kleenix, pens, crayons, and a different variety of things. I would say that more than likely at one time or another the good majority of people have had this happen to them.

When my children were younger I always checked pockets, I even looked for pockets in clothes I knew didn't have pockets to make sure nothing was hidden anywhere. hahaha I normally don't check pockets any longer, if I did then I wouldn't find the surprise of money in the bottom of the washer or dryer. :)

After reading susaneverson's post above mine I forgot when my grandson is here visiting pockets are checked for sure. Never know what you will find in their pockets, thank goodness he never did use our pockets as hiding places also. Gotta love em, so precious and special.

My 7 years old brother ever spend a holiday in my house last year. He is obsessed to clays and makes anything out of a clay even always have a spare in his pocket. When I do his laundry I didn't check the pocket and that ruin all the laundry including my favorite sweater. Since that time I never forget to check pockets before laundry.. Ps: The clays even stuck on the machine and took me days to clean it out.. pfff..

Dear, I believe it happens to the best of us! There's this one time I forgot my pin in my shirt and while my aunt was doing the laundry, she got pricked by it! She was soooo angry about it! I didn't bother to admit it was mine since she never knew. But then again, after that I try to remove my pin. Only problem is I keep forgetting! Lol!
