I got an ipod recently and was happy with it until today when as it is full I tried to delete some songs. The songs have gone but no space has been freed, it's still full.
I did a quick Google search and I already have manage music manually checked, I've also tried syncing it again but nothing happens.
It seems I'm not the only person with this problem either many people have experienced the same thing. Has anyone worked out how to get round it?

yes seems I will just have to delete everything I have on it, not so bad as I have it all on my computer anyway. But it is a design flaw if this is a common problem it should be easy to take music off and music on the device, it's the point of having it.

In iTunes there is an option to reset the iPod. This will wipe out everything on the iPod, but it's a last resort you may have to try if all else fails. You can also try going to Apple's Web site http://www.apple.com/support/ and going to the section for iPod/iTunes support. If it's a common problem, it might be addressed right up front, otherwise you can do a search.
You might also want to make sure you have the most recent iPod/iTunes software updates; this can affect things too.
I've never had this problem with my iPod, fortunately.

I have already looked at the site, they say to sync the ipod again but that hasn't worked, looks like I may have to wipe everything then, how annoying.

Did you delete the songs manually on a mac? thats all i can think of that you need to empty the trash otherwise it deletes the files but doesn't free up the space....apart from that I have no idea...what sort of ipod is it?

It's an ipod nano 2nd generation, and I have a PC so I don't think it would help, unless the ipod itself has a recycle bin I haven't found.
