why is valentine day celebrated ,is it only that we should give /propose the girl on that day only .is there any strong reason to propose on that day

I'm not familiar to the history (so other myLot use help me out, pls!) but according to it St. Valentine conduct a marriage to a couples in the past which is strictly prohibited before because the King/Emperor announce that all men must be enlist as a soldier in preparation for war at that time. Thats why people celebrate it to give honor to St. Valentine that no one can stop people at are in Love.
Regarding for the proposal part I think it's sweet! not bad... don't be shy to do it it's Love day.
