With my first I was at my parents house, and I felt what felt like Braxton Hicks contractions, so I decided to go home and take a shower. I was on the road driving when they were 5 min apart. I got into the shower, and by the time I came out they were 3 min apart, they hurt so bad I couldnt move. Then I went to the hospital and 12 hours later, he was there! With my second, I was lying in bed, and I felt a HUGE contraction it hurt for like 2 minutes. 10 minutes later the same thing, then all of a sudden they came 3 min apart. I rushed to the hospital, I was 8 cm when I got there, and she was born about 10 min later. What about you share your labor and delivery stories! How did it first feel? Did you know it was labor?

Well, lets see. I have three boys so bare with me: 1st son: I was at home and I started feeling achy at midnight. Not too bad. By 430am the cramps hurt so bad we went to the hospital. It was long and exhausting. But got better once I got my epideral. I had him at 4:19pm. Had him on his due date. 2nd son: I started having contractions while we were eating dinner at red lobster. We got home at 9pm and we went to the hospital at 9:30. I had him at 7:04am. Much quicker and easier labor. Had him one day prior to due date. 3rd son: Strange night. The power went out on base at 9pm. We decided to go to bed early. 1am I wake up to this feeling like something popped. I wasn't sure if it was my water breaking because with the other two the doc broke my water. I didn't see any water coming out so I sat in bed. Within half an hour I started getting painful contractions. So we bundled the boys up and took them to a friends house to watch them. (Took about 20 minutes.) Then headed to the hospital. (Took another 20 minutes). We get to the hospital and it was my water breaking and I was at 6cm dilated. Within the next hour I was fully dilated and had this son at 4:07am. Very quick and very painful until I got the epidural (which I barely got in time!).

my story is this..that night in my parents house, at about 7pm i can feel like contraction that i cant explain the feeling, but in a few minutes i will disappear, then after a few minutes it will happen again, then i decided to go to the hospital because i believe that maybe its a true labor..but when we got to the hospital, they found out that its only 4cm, but i dont want to go home, so i decided to walk over my room, to make a squat, but that night the pain is lesser and i come to sleep, then in the morning at around 10am, the pain was so intense, i can feel the pain around my abdomen and on the back, i cant really walk and the pain was so hurting me, i dont know the time gap..and it's getting worst but my bag of water is not yet bursting, so they decided to cut it so that the baby will come fast..after cutting it, i go to shower to wash, and still i was 6cm, i just walking around, and at that night at around 12 midnight, i'm starting to push and at exactly 1am, she was born....

Well, with my first I started getting cramps when we went to bed. They got worse through the night. My husband was getting ready for work and asked me if I wanted to go to the hospital. I said no I'm fine. 2 hrs later I called my mom and told her I thought I was in labor. She sent my sister up to drive me to the hospital. I was 4-1/2 cm when I got there. 8 hrs later and my daughter came. With my second one it was weird. sunday night about 10pm i felt very light cramps. when i got up in the morning they were gone. monday night same thing, but slightly stronger...got up tuesday morning they were gone. Finally tuesday night they got really bad and at about 2:30 in the morning i couldn't sleep and couldn't take it anymore so we went in. 6 hrs later and our second daughter came. With my 3rd I ended up having to be induced. I went to my ob appointment and my blood pressure was up so they sent me up to the hospital to get checked out. i was heading towards preeclampsia so they decided it would be best to induce. i came back into the hospital the next morning and they induced me. 8 hrs later we had our baby boy.:)

With my first two my labors started while I was asleep. I woke up to cramping that wasn't outrageously painful but I couldn't sleep through them. I was 13 & 7 days past my due date with each of them, so I knew it was finally labor. With my youngest two the start of labor is much harder to pinpoint. I had at least a week of good, dilating contractions (not painful & spaced very far apart) but slowly progressing.

With my first I had been laying down all day with light Braxton Hicks contractions. I had no idea that it was labor. At ten in the evening I thought I would have a bath then go to bed. But then a strong contraction hit me and I realized that I was in labor. My mum and husband filled up my birthing pool and I climbed inside. It was relaxing in the water and in helped the pain I was in. Two midwifes arrived. Later on the pain got stronger so I tried some gas and air. I got out on my my bed and pushed my baby out in twenty minutes and he was born at six in the morning. But I had a retained placenta and had to go to hospital to get it removed. Then I took my dear 9lb 4oz baby boy home. He is now 12 years old. With my second I woke up in the early hours of the morning with light contractions two minutes apart. I wasn't sure I was in labor. I rang my mum and she came round and filled up my birthing pool. I sat on my sofa and my contractions got stronger. I felt the labor was going too quickly and the midwifes took their time arriving. I was laying down to slow my contractions and then the midwifes arrived. They were only there for fifteen minutes and then felt my baby's head. I sat up and two contractions later he was out. I held my 7lb 11 oz baby boy in my arms. He went to intensive care for three weeks and had two operations for his spina bifida. Now he is a happy eight month old baby.

With my first, they stripped my membranes 5 days before his due date. It hurts so bad and I vowed to never allow that again! The contractions had started before I had even gotten home from the doctors. I went through 24 hours of agony before he was born! With my second, my water broke one night. I was so afraid of the pain because of the last time that I got an epidural before the contractions even became painful. He wasn't born until the next day. He came 3 weeks early. With my third, my water broke the night before again only I didn't realize it because it was only a trickle and then only a few drops. I didn't go to the hospital until the next morning. She was born later that afternoon. She was a month early but healthy. All three of them were pitocin births. The fourth baby, well.... She was breech and they had scheduled a version to try and turn her. The morning before the appointment my water broke. It was only a drip every now and then so I waited until around lunch to tell my husband. He was already calling 100 times a day because he was so excited. I didn't want to get his hopes up and it be nothing. He knew of my tendency to go early and this time was no different. She was due May 30 and was born May 3rd, on my dad's birthday (mine is the 31st). I started getting contractions while at the hospital and that was bad because I had to wait for the operating room to open up. I waited for hours and hours and they don't let you eat. They didn't get to try and turn her and I am very thankful for that. She had her neck wrapped in the cord, had it wrapped around her body, her arm and her leg were caught up in it. If she would have been turned they could have killed her. So, my 4th and final child was a C-section. The recovery was horrible, nothing like the other 3. The beginning of labor is always exciting because you know you are going to meet your baby soon!

With my first pregnancy I knew I was in labor because my water broke. Some 5+ hours later, my baby came into the world. With my second pregnancy I had my contractions first. At first the were light, so my husband and I decided to wait until they got a little stronger before going to the hospital. A couple hours later they were strong, so we left the house. When we reached the hospital I was 9 centimeters dilated, but my water hadn't broke. The doctor eventually decided to break it after waiting over 2 hours to see if it would break on its own. Once it broke, my son came out 4 minutes later.

I have 6 children all born naturally (sort of) and I didn't have any crazy or exciting stories. My oldest born 4 days early and her head got stuck, not in labor for long only about 10 or 12 hours which is not bad for a first born. My second was being stubborn and therefore had to be induced 2 weeks after her due date. Let me just say Pitocin sucks. That delivery went fine, and when they laid her on me she peed on me. The third one was born exactly on her due date. I went in labor at my best friends house while watching the bulls game ("97", the year they won their 5th championship ring in a row). I went home during commercial in the 3rd quarter. Sat at home on the floor watching the game with my husband and his cousin. His cousin was nervous thinking we should be getting to the hospital (his kids were born c-section, he didn't have a clue). I told my husband we could go after the game. I was determined to finish watching that game, didn't want to miss any of it. How was I to know that they would go into double overtime. Anyway, I went to the hospital after that. My fourth child (so far all girls), was born on her due date, and everything went smooth. However her dad was starting some business classes that day, and I thought I was having braxton hicks so I didn't tell him before he left. Anyway it all worked out his bestfriend took me to hospital and waited with me until he came. My fifth child (finally a boy) didn't come on his due date and I wasn't dialated that much on that day. So, I gave my husband the best birthday present, I got induced the next day so our son could be born on his birthday. Friday the 13th of all days. Anyway, I was so excited that I was having a boy, I said to heck with it, and said ok, I'll try the epidural. Well, the anesthesiolgist took long and by the time he finished getting me hooked up, I was ready to push. I guess it just wasn't meant to be, because the epidural never did take effect. My son came out on the 2nd push. The doctor wasn't expecting him on the second push and literally had to catch him. The 6th one was a breeze also, another girl though. I got induced because my doctor was afraid I'd go in labor over Mother's Day weekend and I wasn't trying to have another doctor deliver me. But let me tell you, those nurses and the attending doctor got chewed out by my doc. They called him and said I was ready to go (his office was down the street). Well when he got there they didn't have the room prepped and ready for him. Yea, I thought it was funny. Well, those are my short 6 stories. Will there be any more? OHHH NOOOO. 6 is plenty. The factory is closed, we are only open for tours...LOL

Although it was nearly 19 years ago, I remember it vividly. I had been told my due date was April 3 from the doctor early on in the pregnancy. I was very miserable being pregnant, feeling like a beached whale. I weighed all of 97 pounds when I got pregnant, and one week before delivery, I weighed 147. I gained 50 pounds!! The Friday before my due date, my doctor informed me that he was estimating that my due date would be a week later, moving it to April 10th. I informed him that I was having this kid on or before that following Monday. I had told my husband that I might wake him up in the middle of the night telling him "It's time", just to see if he would be ready. Well, at 4:15 Monday morning, I was laying in bed, and I felt a woosh, and flooded the bed. Yep, my water broke. I was having no contractions at this point. I slapped my hands down on both sides of me and said, "Oh S**T!" and my husband said,,,, "You are not funny, go back to sleep." He thought I was testing him. Well, I informed him that I wasn't kidding, and I got out of bed. My mom had just arrived back from California that Friday and hadn't got her power turned back on at her house, so she was staying at our house. Mom woke up when I came into the living room, she was freaking out. Asking about my contractions, ect. I kept telling her I wasn't having any and that made her panic worse. I called the hospital and they asked how far apart my contractions were and I told them I wasn't having them yet, so they said they'd call the OB nurse and have her give me a call. As soon as I hung up the phone, I got my first contraction. Five minutes later, I got another, and 5 min later, another, and 5 min later another, and finally the OB nurse calls, and says "Go ahead and come on in," and I told her my contractions had started and they were 5 min apart. My husband had gotten in the shower while we waited for the nurse to call, so we waited for him to finish his shower, and by the time we got to the hospital, my contractions were 3 min apart. My son was born at 6:09 am. On my original due date. Needless to say, the doctor had some funny comments when he got there. The first thing he said was "I guess you weren't kidding huh? Well, you could have waited until daylight at least!" My second one was less eventfull. I started having light contractions at 4:45 pm on December 11th. My husband was working nights and didn't get off until 1:00 am. I called him at work, where he was a supervisor, and told him I was having contractions about 20 minutes apart. He had me call a friend from town, as we had moved 150 miles away from family, and told them we may need to drop the oldest off that I was having contractions. My husband called every 30 minutes, and my doctor every 45 minutes, and by 1:30 am when my husband got home, my contractions were about 10 minutes apart. Keep in mind that my water still had not broken so I wasn't too terribly concerned. I had fixed my husband some dinner for when he got home so he could eat. The doctor said to head on over to the hospital when he called at 1:00 am, and I told him we would be there as soon as my husband got home and ate. It was a 30 minute drive to the hospital. Since we figured it would be awhile and we didn't want to wake our friends, and it was a small hospital, we took our oldest with us, and he went to sleep on the recliner in the room. Well, we got there, and they checked me, I was only dialated to 4 and they had me walking the halls and stuff all nite, checking me, ect. At 6 the next morning when the doctor came to make rounds, I told him if he'd break my water, I'd have the kid in under 2 hours. He didn't want to rush into that since I was 3 weeks early. Well, the contractions continued, getting closer and closer and I was dialated to 8 , and at 1:45 when the doctor came in on rounds, he decided to break my water and see if that made me fully dialate and have the kid. It was 2:00 pm December 12 when he broke my water. I had the kid at 3:47 pm. I was right. Under 2 hours. That evening, my father in law called. His first words, "Couldn't ya have held on another 8 1/2 hours? Oh well, it's still a good birthday present." He was born the day before his Grandpa's birthday.
