I know it happens but seeing it drives me crazy! What is Wolfie going on about now, you ask? He's already had one rant today, well sorry here's another. We all agree that time goes fast right?Today in town I see our big Woolworths has shelves and shelves full of Easter Eggs!I know Easter is early this year 23rd March but Easter Eggs in January?
That is going tooooooooo far?
Talk about commercializing in a big greedy fat way!Time goes by fast enough without shops making it go even faster
Please tell me WHO buys EASTER eggs in January?
WHY?
WHY?
WHY?
Like Christmas the true meaning of Easter has gone out of the window, money is more important it seems!
It's crazy, absolutely crazy, Christmas was a few weeks ago!!!
It really is beggars belief
Does this make you crazy, angry and annoyed that shops do this? Will you be buying an Easter egg this month?

January they were in some shops here in December! My kids get loads of Easter eggs but still prefer painting their boiled eggs and taking them to roll them down the hill (or down the staircase if the weather is bad!) I do buy eggs for others but not for my own as they get far too many although I do usually buy them a small gift - just to celebrate easter! xxxx

Are you kidding me? I haven't seen Easter stuff yet. We have to get through the commercialism of Valentines first. The Valentines Day stuff was there a day after Christmas. Oh, and if this kind of thing gets you so annoyed...you indeed need that anger management course.....LOL

Good evening Wolfie, I have read several articles and reports that mention the fact that the stores have all pushed up seasonal sales because of the falling economy. The reasoning is that if they stock earlier they will milk better sales out of an already sad market. I know my household bought less for Christmas. Eggs by themselves is up 36% over 2006, gas rising at an alarming rate, milk 30% above what it was in 2006. Heck everything we buy has risen in price except our pay rates. I will start buying easter early, it will give me the chance to buy a little at a time, or put together one basket at a time. I have 5 grand children all under the age of 6. Their parents depend on Nana and Pops at holidays because they sure can't afford much.

Christmas has lost its magic for children, for them its just i want the latest gadget! I'm sick of all the hype because it has nothing to do with Christmas or easter and refuse to go down the road of spend spend spend on rubbish, you get more chocolate buying a bar and its not the thin easter egg with substandard chocolate and huge box with a small egg. No i'm not buying the eggs lol
Valentines day is another why is it just 1 day can't you love someone everyday, hubby usually gives me a single red rose i don't want a six foot tall card i'm happy just to be with the man i love, i don't expect expensive gifts it doesn't mean much if its just because everyone else does it!

Uhm.... I quite agree..... but.... remember I told you to hold back the snow? I shallbe buying an Easter egg, well probably more than one because English eggs beat Italian ones by far and I shall be in UK for a week next week. So I'm REALLY pleased they will be at Woolies!
I quite get your point though. Here in Italy before Easter we have the carnival season which has to all be over before Lent. That means that on 27th december everything pertaining to carnival was already in the shops! The whole thing just seems to boil down to commerce and that's all it's about nowadays.

Yes Sweet it makes me mad as it is all just a show and money now
I know Easter is early this year but there is still no need for it to be that early on display
I also found that last year the Christmas Stuff appeared earlier then the year before
And I certainly will not be buying an Easter Egg this Month lol no chance xxx

Why?? So people will buy them of course. I've seen Easter eggs on Boxing Day.
What sort of person chooses to buy Easter eggs when it's not Easter? This is what I can't fathom. Is it just about instant gratification?
I overheard a lady just before Christmas saying "I don't know what to buy. All the treats that used to be traditionally Christmas treats we have all year round." I thought how sad (stupid) that was. Don't special times have ANY meaning anymore?
I love my roast turkey and I always have it at Christmas. I allow myself to have it one other time in the year...either the end of June in Winter, or I cook it for my birthday dinner...it's my favourite roast and I don't do a whole turkey, it's something really special. The thing is that it remains special....like Easter eggs on Easter Sunday. Not a day before. We have hot cross buns in the lead up to Easter and not at any other time of the year. These things are meant to be symbolic. (Not sure of the symbolism of turkey though)

Well Wolfie, I have to agree with you on this one, but you know if they have those wonderful peeps - it can never be too early. I can never get enough of them. I especially love the vanilla peeps.
And there are people who try to spread out the cost of holidays, so if they can buy things in January, it will be easier in March.

Yes I have noticed that also.. Always pushing to make even one more dollar on Easter then they would if they let it come along in due time..Rush rush rush and soon our life is over.. I don't really celebrate Easter per se because as I have mentioned before I am Bah`ai and my kids are too old for the Easter Bunny...
The only egg I will be buying is the kind I can scramble..lol

Everything is over-commercialized these days, wolfie, and it's a darned shame. There is no time to recuperate from one holiday before we are bombarded with sales in the stores touting the next big holiday. I thin k it takes the importance of these events away because they are viewed only as another commercial campaign.

Hello dear wolfie. Easter is not our traditional day, but your talking about the early date of selling the Easter eggs way too early ahead of time reminds me of our Moon Festival, when we have moon cakes. Yes, our Moon Festival is on the lunar month of August 15th of the year, but the moon cakes are always sold way too earlier before the arrival of the festival, at least one month ahead of time. So the case of yours is not alone there. But I do not buy the moon cakes ahead of time as it would not last long and we will have to consume the cakes before they are deteriorated. hehehehe. Thanks.

i know it is so annoying easter eggs straight after christmas, they had them on sale a few weeks ago here in australia.i will not buy them now as they will melt if i do not put them in the fridge.when we were little we had easter egg hunts,we would paint and decorate boiled eggs and hide them in the garden with a few small chocolate ones.this was more fun than just get given eggs.yes the true meaning of easterhas certainly gone out the window.cheers sue
