Composing song

writing a song, for me, is easy. just write what you feel. express your emotions through music. it feels really good.

I think that one has to be born an artist in order to compose songs. I'm not an artist but I have great respect and admiration to those who can write and sing great music because they have this wonderful ability to express their thoughts and bare-bone ideas into something I believe that it takes a lot to be a musician. Just by thinking about what words to use in the song, the right note/tune to play it with, the theme...i guess it needs a lot of concentration. Maybe some artists have to undergo meditation or be inspired of something or someone in order to be in the mood for composing. Also, an artist has to have passion. He/she must be passionate about life in general. For me this gift/talent of composing songs is beautiful. It is like a channel of communication. The composer is communicating not only to his inner-self but also to those who listens to his songs. Isn't that awesome? A toast to artists and their talent!

Composing a song is a creation and it gives immense pleasure when we compose a song and it comes out well and people praise and enjoy it.

For me, I just go with what feels right. I don't bother to care if it sounds "modern" or if it sounds like something else. I do try to get most of the composition complete simply on one instrument, either guitar or piano, including most of the lyrics. I also like to play it over and over and over again, always trying to make it a little better. Anyway, that's what I do, but, I think each and every person should do it the way they want to.

I have won an award for song writing once. What an awesome experience. All I can say is whatever you want to compose it's got to come from within you. You have to feel it,whatever that emotion is. But it's got to come from you it really doesn't matter what people tell you the ultimate direction of that song has to be from you. Good Luck
