Does he absorb powers without his knowlege? If for example, he walks down the street and someone else with powers walks down the street, does he absorb that other guy's/gal's power?
Also, did he absorb the Haitian's power?

As far as I can figure out, yes, Peter could in fact absorb someone's powers and not be aware of it immediately. As to the Haitian's power, I had not thought of that! Common sense would say yes, he did, but then again, maybe the Haitian was able to put up some sort of block between him and Peter, causing his power to not be absorbed by Peter... Hmmmm much to think about!

Peter can absorb someone's powers and not be aware of it. He found that out in the first volume. The invisible guy was showing Peter how to use his powers and told him to focus on the person whose power he has. Then when he jumped off the building to fly, he thought about Claire instead of Nathan. When he smacked the pavement, he was able to heal himself.
It would be interesting if, like Claire, using his regenerative abilities to regenerate his memories, he would realize that he also has the Haitian's power...

Yes. It appears that all Pete has to do, to gain a power is to be in their prescense, and like a sponge, he obsorbs it. Of course, he has to be aware he has the power, to be able to use it. For example, in the case of the Hatian, since he may not remember the man, he may not be aware he has it. I'm also not sure if he was able to get DL's or Mika's abilites, although he did get Jessica's. The bad part with this is that if they plan to kill someone, but still want to use their power, all they need to do is have Peter come in contact with them, and/or have sylar kill them, and they have the power, but not the person; sorta like Isac.
