why are so many people BORED?

i must have answered about 5 discussions today that were started by people saying the immortal words...'i'm bored...'
come on people, surely you can think of SOMETHING to do! sheesh!
let me tell ya a little about me! i work p/t (9 am - 1pm daily) write/freelance part time, am trying to get a home biz off the ground PLUS i have 2 daughters and a hubby and a house
if that wasnt enough, i am awaiting knee replacement surgery on BOTH knees, so i am in constant pain!
i cannot find enough time in the day to do all the things that i have to do/let alone WANT to do!
i am a voracious reader and crafter as well!
my one daughter (age 14) is like that, she is so easily bored...perhaps i entertained her too much when she was little, now she cant entertain herself (though she is starting to like to read!!) my 10 year old daughter can amuse herself for hours (more like mom for sure!)
my questions is, how can anyone be bored? go to the library, volunteer, call a shut-in, there are so many things that you could be doing! it just takes the willingness to start!

Somedays I'M just bored also. I just don,t feel like waiting to do anything but at the same time, I want to do things.
Right now, I'M kinda bored even if I have 10000 things to do in the house and I could also play pc games, I could watch some BUffy (I bought the the first season in december and still didnt listen to it)
There is just day like that that we just feel bored even if we have things to do lol

I fully agree with you!
I'm a stay at home mom of five kids, that alone allows no boredom! Add the home business, the freelance writing/copywriting/proofreading, helping dh with his college homework and all my quilting, and I can certainly not be bored, ever. Sometimes I kind of wish that I could be bored!

I hear ya, thank goodness my son is a self entertainer...he plays for hours on end by himself, you won't hear a peep from him unless he's hungry or tired.I was the same way when I was little...I just recently had my neices and nephew for a couple weeks, and that's all they seemed to say!!!

I agree with you completely. There is so much that can be done. There are people who've got more than what they can handle in their lives. Youngsters especially should never get bored at any point of time as they have so much to learn. They can read, help their elders, watch informative channels on tv, etc.

I have to laugh because I learned at a fairly early age that it's not good to say the words "I'm bored" around my family. My grandmother could always find something for us to do, should we dared to have uttered those words within her hearing range. Unfortunately, what she found for us to do was chores, not entertainment as expected, lol.
I passed along the lesson to my daughter, so I haven't heard her say this in quite a few years. She definately learned to change the phrase as she didn't like the list of chores I could find to occupy her time either. :)
