Well it's that time of year again. Have you gotten your taxes filed or made the appointment or done them yourself? If you are getting a return have you got plans to buy something special or use it for paying off a debt or just putting it in the bank. Mine are filed! I am so glad it's over of another year. I'll stash mine in the bank in case of emergency! Are your's filed and done for another year?

I finished up and e-filed mine on Sunday. I've used the Complete Tax website to do them on my own the last few years. Sites like that and TurboTax are great. Some even offer a rapid refund type service to get your money within 72 hours after the return is accepted by the IRS.
This is the first year we'll be getting back a decent federal refund. Unfortunately though we had an expensive move this past year and the refund is going to have to go toward getting caught up on bills.

Yes, always nice to be caught up and have one less thing to worry about. :)

Nope, we haven't filed our taxes yet. I leave it up to my husband since he does them. He tells me to sign and where and I do it...lol Works for me. Last year we got a nice refund and he gave it all to me. It was great. Hopefully we get another nice refund this year. I did save some last year and spent some as well. It was fun doing both. My husband probably won't do ours until the middle of March or later. He's never in any hurry.

Mie are not filed yet, but we've started the process. We actually purchased Turbotax 2008 and have inputted a lot of our information and the W-2s we've been waiting for from my wife's first job from the year. As soon as we get those W-2s we can get this finalized and file them with the IRS. We'll probably end up using it to pay down some debts. As of right now, we're getting a refund but we're not sure because the majority of the income was that last job that my wife had prior to this one. Hopefully it won't make our refund too much smaller.

I started working on it the other day. I'm almost done, I just need to run it by my husband to make sure everything is correct! I'd hate to have missed something! :P
Hopefully I'll be able to put this money in the bank for a rainy day or something. My family sure could use it. :)

My husband and I haven't got our W2s yet so we can't file yet. As soon as we get them, we are going to e-file though. We are planning to pay off my car with it, and catch up on a few bills, and save the rest for a rainy day. We should be getting our W2s next week.

We started our taxes online at Taxcut on Friday then discovered we had forgotten our daughter's social security number at home(3 hours away). We had to wait until today when my husband had access to a military computer and was able to look it up. So he texted me her number and I finished our taxes and e-filed this afternoon. Now I can't wait to get that big check!
We are saving some and paying off some bills. We are also setting aside some to buy a few things.

We are waiting for 2 more W2s and a interest payment statement before we can file. Like every year the majority of our tax refund will go to paying off debt. We always put some in savings and we spend some.

For the last four or five years our son has done our taxes. He buys the software to do his own and so he just goes ahead and does ours also. We haven't gotten our w-2's from work yet so he can't do them yet. We aren't sure whether my husband and I will get anything back this year. Not a lot of deductions so what we have been doing is going with the short form. It works for us. It is just my husband and I at home now.

well done Jill! In Singapore, taxation is almost fool proof because it has been made electronic.
So every year, i just get a letter from the authorities giving the address of the website to log on and i just check a box and I'm done.
In my country, income tax rates are very low because pension provision for retirees is almost non-existent. you only get what you put into the national mandatory individual savings scheme.
under 30% of the population pay taxes, but unfortunately or fortunately i am in that category. those in lower income levels pay no tax.

Not only are they done, but filed and refund is on the way! I always try to get ours done as early as possible so that I don't forget about it. I am currently now working on getting my son's done. I wrote an article for Associated Content about the IRS e-file, www.associatedcontent.com/article/536125/irs_efile_up_and_running.html
This talks about the benefits of e-file. It's pretty nice, the free services offered and web-sites that are available for free that walk you through your taxes, ask you the right questions, you answer, and it takes every deduction that works for you. Even if you have your own business, it does self employment taxes. Figures earned income credit, additional child tax credit. It's a great service, and basically does the same thing you pay a preparer to do in their office, and the best part is, It's free, and you can do it from your own home. I've been doing e-file for a couple years now, and I love it.
