After Being Away from Home for 3 Months, What Would You Miss Most?

Except friends and family, what would you miss most when you are away from home for 3 months? For me, I am not usually a food fanatic and I am not picky about cuisine, but when I was away, I kept thinking about the Chinese I have and imagined how fantastic it would be to come back and have a taste again *laughs*. I landed very late last night and I woke up extremely early this morning (5 am) and waited till the restaurant opens (at 7am), I rushed myself to the restaurant and ordered a Chinese breakfast, now I am feeling better, more home! *laughs*

When I saw your title, I immediately thought "the refigerator!" but I see you mention a restaurant, so we are both on the same track!
When we used to take short trips, I looked forward to having a meal out at a restaurant the night we got back and then to go home and unpack on a full tummy, but now we take longer trips and the first thing I want to do is run into the kitchen and make a home made meal.

Interesting! Just before I got back, all I thought was food, food and FOOD. After I got back, I got plans for the weekend catching up with my friends and of course have a good meal (I will force them to eat Chinese with me *laughs*). Indeed, we are the same, I start to think maybe I should cook something for myself today.

LOL, I can just imagine you forming a line there for your food. Aww, I'm glad you're back though!
Does my cat count as family? If not I'd miss her the most. I'd don't think I'd miss the food as US food is really such a mixture of stuff from everywhere else and no matter where in the world you go, there's a McDonald's. But I would miss the little things, like I miss the canolli's and Italian food and Spanish food from back home that I can't get where I live now. I think if I had to be away from where I'm living now though, what I'd miss would be the beautiful natural scenery and the warm and friendly people.

Yep, I couldn't believe I was in line at 7.30am this morning, but since I can't sleep during my night time, I will keep doing it until my jet lag is over with and I don't have that hunger for Chinese food. Ah.
I think cat would be counted as family. Right, warm and friendly people is a good one. Since I don't live in a very warm and friendly environment, really can't say I miss that *laughs*.

I experienced being away from home for two years... and the thing that i missed most was the food...real authentic Filipino food like adobo, sinigang, lumpia, lechon manok... etc... etc... days before going back home... i requested my husband and mother to cook those food for me... so that the minute i am home the first thing i will do is eat...
I also missed my bed of course...

*laughs* Yes, that's what went through my mind. All I think about now is those food I miss most and I have to bug my friends to go out and eat with me! Of course, I am already thinking about what to cook for tomorrow!

Nice to see your new discussions again:) I remember in the past you mentioned you would go to see your boyfriend. I think you already had a good time and now you are back. If I am away from home for a long time, I will miss my family the most.

Yes, I miss my parents and friends too and for the next few days, I have to go out and catch up with everyone of them (so I will have excuse to have some real Chinese food outside too *laughs*).

Food, mylotting, Heliuming, bed, pillow--everywhere I go, the beds and pillows aren't like mine at home and it's hard to get to sleep and hard on my back (I'm old, next month, half a century), holidays if different from the ones I'm used to celebrating. Take care and glad you're back, missed you!
