How do you feel a pastor's wife should present herself? What do you feel her role is compared to the other women in church?

Unfortunately, when a congregation hires a pastor, they expect his wife to be part of the package. Everyone relies on the pastor's wife to mentor the women in the church, supervise childrens' activities, run social events. It's more than a full time job. She is supposed to be happy to welcome anyone into her home any time. She basically becomes part of the public domain. Having heard many people make remarks about various pastor's wives over the years, I know it's a very hard job. Personally I don't think I could ever measure up.

My husband is in seminary with the goal of becoming a senior pastor in a United Methodist church so I am a future pastor's wife. I think a pastor's wife should present herself as any Christian should present themself. All Christians should be modest and practice good morals because actions speak louder than words. We should all lead by example.

A Pastor's wife should be an extension of him. She should be open to all in the church. She should be available to talk with anyone needing comfort and encouragement. She should be a role model of a wife for others to learn. I think being a Pastor's wife would be very hard to do. It takes not only faith but wisdom and obedience in all things.

In my humble opinion - I think she should be a mentor to the ladies. Teacher by example. Not expect the ladies of the church to do anything she wouldn't do herself.
