We are thinking of getting a great dane boxer mix pup. We have of course thought of the health issues of larger dog and food lol. We have a german shep/rottie mix now that is 6 months old. A all black cat thats 2 . Big back yard 6ft fence. But my question is are they good with kids and other animals. We have a 8yr old daughter.

I'm not sure about Great Danes and kids, but they do seem fairly docile.Boxers are great as long as they are raised with them, I have never heard anything negative about this breed.I have a big black cat too about the same age.We love him, I am also getting a teacup pocket maltise, and my fiance wants a purebred boxer puppy...we may have to get a bigger house, lol

I think we may go ahead and take are chances. I love big dogs . The puppy we have now is so good he already potty trained and the cat is getting use to him. We wanted 2 dogs and might as well get the other one while this one young . I know the feeling about bigger house we just bought this one and now filling up with animals........ yikes maybe we should of just had another baby.lol I always had purebeds growing up labs. But are daughter talked us out of it when we got the puppy she said we are a mixed family should have a mixed dog. she crazy lol

They will require a lot of exercise, at least an hour a day. You will have your hands full with two puppies. Will you have the time to walk two puppies? A backyard is great but it is no substitute for a walk. You are getting a high energy pooch, so if you have the time and energy, then I would say go for it.

I don't know if you have gotten the great dane/boxer yet - but please do!! We have a great dane/boxer mix who will be 7 years old this year and I couldn't imagine my life without her! She is great with other animals and children! She is calm, but playful and loves pig ears! She's does eat a lot, but we just love her to pieces. She's been potty-trained since she was 3 mos old and was very easily trainable.
Good luck!
