The best thing about camping?

What, in your opinion is the best thing about camping? Do you like the camp fire, the hiking, or do you bring your bike and go biking. I love the peacefully way everyone is, especially at night. The kids are exhausted and sleep comes early for them and then we get to sit around the camp fire and talk or drink and do foolish stuff that we would never do at home. I feel closer to my husband when we do this. It is great...

The best thing about camping is the silence at night and the endless stars. Just the peace of being outdoors, beside a low campfire with the kids sleeping soundly in the tent nearby. That beautiful, peaceful feeling of being connected to nature. You sleep better, breathe clean air, and wake up refreshed. Bring it on! Luckily I live in Australia, where we don't have the extremes of temperature and weather conditions that you have to contend with. We have a little more flexibility in the times of year we can go camping. My favourite time is at Easter. Mild weather, big full moon - beautiful.

What I like the most about camping is meeting the friendly people. I don't how others feel, but the friendliest people are the other campers. Maybe because in nature, people are more genuine, relaxed, and friendlier. I have met wonderful, and interesting people in every, I mean every, camping experience. Just sharing the ecosystem with others is fun. I remember one time, we had chile on a campout, and I shared it with the couple camping next to us. They liked it so much, they asked for the recipe. We became friends at that moment.

Most of the time, you won't find mean campers. I don't know what it is, but it just seams that campers are just more down to earth and friendlier. It must be because we mostly are relaxed and really know how to enjoy nature.

We love camping. For us, it's getting away from the house and our daily routine. I don't mind cooking at camp... compared to cooking at home! lol! It's just so quiet and peaceful! We have three camps we go to. We share a camper with my hubby's family so we get about 3 weekends a year at the campground. We share a cabin with my brother, and we can use that any time we want. We also go tent camping every 4th of July with some other family members and that is always a blast because we have about 30 people that go. We sit around the fire at night and just relax... it's great!

That sounds like a blast. I would like to get involved in a huge family camp thing but my hubby doesn't get along that well with most of his family. They just fight alot so it would not be peaceful!!!!

I think the best thing about camping is the delight of staying in a scenic location like an ocean view where I can enjoy hearing the waves gently splashing at the shore. It can be special to sit and watch the sunset in the evening. On a cool night it is comforting to sleep in my warm sleeping bag.

My wife and I love camping mostly for the one on one time without interruptions. We sit around the campfire and talk about things that bother us about each other with out having to be defensive. We are so open with each other and so in tune. When we camp, I do the cooking over an open flame. Food tastes so much different this way. I also keep a fire going continuously. In the morning when I get up (normally around 4:30-5) the fire pit is still warm and you can put a few pieces of paper in it and rekindle the fire. We like to go about once or twice a month from March/April to Oct/Nov. depending on the weather. Since we live in the Midwest, it does get quite nippy at night in March and Nov. We have cabin fever right now and waiting for the weather to break to pull out our camper and get it ready for the 2008 camping season.

We are the same way. We were talking about it last night. We miss it so much we use a tent and go and we too cook over an open flame once and awhile. We also use a bbq. I love it so much it just relaxes you so much. My husband was also talking about getting his boat in the water this year again. That will be awesome. We will be able to take the boat with us this year because we have a van to pack up with everything that is needed!!!!

About 7 years ago, I was going through my mid life crisis, so my wife and I decided to dip into some of our retirement fund and buy a camper. People told us we would be sorry for doing it. We have never regretted it and in fact, think it was one of our best decisions we've made. We did some homework, and looked into many different campers and found the one that would fit our needs the best, found a dealer close by and made the purchase. We have been happy campers ever since. We started out tent camping with our 2 boys. Tent camping was great, but as you get older, you find you can't sleep on the ground without waking up to muscle pain. Thats when we had to get a camper. My wife's mom and dad gave us their pop-up and we used it for the next 4 years, but grew tired of packing and unpacking it all the time. So we bought a Hi-Lo camper. We love it and next year looking at getting a Hi-Lo that is just a bit bigger.

I enjoy the sounds and the smells of being outside by the lake. Falling asleep outside with the cool breeze and the smell of the wood smoke still smoldering. Waking up early and going fishing. I can't wait until the weather warms up so we can go this summer! Just thinking about it is exciting.
