How do you go about killing spiders?

what do you do to kill spiders? do you squash them? use a spray? let them live? I hate spiders so much and there was a massive huntsman in my house last night!

I squash them mostly, I can't stand spiders. they always seem to come around when you least expect them, and what get's me the most is, when I'm in the kitchen cooking, sometimes one will drop down with the web beside me, and then I can't squash it...lol...I'm calling hubby to come in and get it.
