Do You Think Toilet Seats are Nasty?

I guess this is really something that the ladies could relate to more than the men, but the men may understand too. I know that a toilet seat is one of the nastiest things that exist, I will give you that, but you do know that by sitting on one, that will not make you sick? I can't think of how many times I have sat on a soaking wet toilet seat that another woman has peed all over because she was afraid of sitting on a dirty toilet seat. So please tell me, what do you think is more discussing sitting on a toilet seat or sitting on a toilet seat that someone has peed on because they think toilet seats are dirty?

sometimes the rims are cleaner then the seats, i carry supplies to clean dirty toilet before i use them. if the seat is really nasty i clean the rim and sit on it, after all they are cleaner then your cutting board, even if peed on. wipe it off and go to the toilet sitting down no squatting in this country. the dirty seat may be there to film you going to the toilet.

The latter of course, there are a lot of women it would seem with very lousy aiming skills and toomuch paranoia. The reason that people need to wash their bodies daily is that we are crawling with bacteria and germs all day long from the moment that we get out of the shwer until we get back in. The body is really good at fighting these bacteria and germs off so I cannot see how someone could actually get an illness from a toilet seat touching the backs of their thighs. After all isn't the majority of the bacteria on the underside rather than the topside of the seat from splashback when you flush? I think people should go ahead and sit down and just not worry themselves so much about things that really are not that big a risk. I too hate a wet bottom when I sit down on the commode but this is one of the reasons that I don't "back in" I usually wipe the toilet seat before I sit down anyway just in case though also because I really hate sitting down in wet!

eww gross, you don't wipe it first? If it's wet, I usually will pick another stall or wipe it down first. But yeah, that second one is definitely grosser!! Funny how at some places, like work, I don't even think about it b/c it always seems cleaner than a store or restaurant. And then at some restaurants, it seems ok, but then you go to a coney island, and the whole bathroom is so gross that I question whether to go at all!

the most germs were found not in the bath room but on the puglic telephones and the phones shared in an office..also the keyboard on the commuters in the office and in chat room cafe had more feces and germs then in the public restrooms ..kitchen sinks are also guilty of masking a lot of germs..people are not aware of these places but public toilets are usually disenfected on a regular schedule

Hi hcromer, I do think toilet seats are very nasty, but when I use it if there is no toilet sheets available I will line the seat with toilet tissue before sitting on it. I have seen some really dirty seats in my day. and I only use them if I can't hold it - otherwise I wait til I get home.

I am one of those people that before I sit down I wipe off the toilet seat with a wet disinfectant towelette. I would never think of sitting down on a toilet that I have not done that with. In the bathrooms were many people use them you just can't be to careful. Of course, I think sitting down on a toilet seat where someone has peed on it is disgusting.
