Where do all the socks go

Australia
January 24, 2008 7:47pm CST
Yesterday I was cleaning the house so I was sorting the clothes and I found about 20 socks without a "partner" so I put them in a box and every time I would find a sock I will put it there. The whole house was cleaned (every draw, corner, box) and still I had lots lone socks. Where did they go? What do you think where do the socks go?

The spinning drum & electricity of the dryer occasionally causes a vortex to another dimension. It's probably covered in socks by now. P.S. This is why I buy several pairs of the same type of sock. If one disappears there's still a match somewhere.

wow that is a good answer. I do the same with the socks expecialy for my son as his socks does not like him very much so they run away a lot.

They must get eaten because I have a box plus a couple of bags full of odd socks. I will sort them every so often (maybe once a month or so) and will find maybe 6 or 7 pairs of socks and the box will still be overflowing!

There are 4 of us, me, my partner and our 2 children. I've even tried buying all the same sort of socks and that doesn't seem to work either!

I always buy at least 2 pairs the same that way my son wears them out completly because if 1 gets lost he has 3 others .

hahahah no problemo in fact I have 2 one is my husbands and the other one is my sons (out of 4 socks that were the same we are down to 1) I dont know why but my husband and son have the most "lost" socks and they each buy at least 5 pairs every month (well I buy them for my son as he is only 4)

I have had this problem before but never that many unmatched pairs. I usualy find a least one mismatched pairper load, not always but it is pretty frustrating trying to figure out what happen to it.

My son changes at least 2 pairs of socks every day and he would just take them off and live them whereever (what do you expect he is 4) so he has the most unmatched plus I get him at least 2 pairs the same so if one is lost or has a hole he has a spare.

I have always been convinced that the dryer eats them, just like the sink breeds dished. Just another unexplained mystery.

hmmmm and those of us that dont have a dryer it would be the washing machine. And I agree about the sink as well mine is expecialy good at that. Do you know anything that breeds money it doesnt have to be a huge amount of money at the same time dollar by dollar will do.

I dunno. But I have suspicion that it might be played by children and throw it somewhere. Better asks people in your house to locate it.
