Will this EVER end? (rolls eyes) Here we go!
A childs' book based on the classic "Three little pigs" has been rejected for a UK award because it could offend Muslims. Has the world gone completely insane?
It was said that the "Cowboy builders" animated in the book using pigs as the main characters raised "cultural issues".
For goodness sake I grew up with this book!!!!!
Someone, somewhere needs to "get a life!" This is the "last straw" so to speak!

I totally agree with you. This is getting absolutely ridiculous that something as little as a children's book, who everyone has grown up with, cannot be allowed to be read because it might offend someone's religion. It's absolutely insane and it will never end unfortunately. There is no telling, in the near future, what else will not be allowed because of someone's religion or beliefs. That is taking it a little far though. thanks for posting and God bless

It does make you wonder what the next "cannot have" will be in case it offends someone! It is almost like being in a bubble and soon not being able to go out of it! And I have to agree with you that it most likely will not stop and I feel very sorry for the children who will miss out on these little stories and the fun behind them. Dare I mention Noddy?????? Thank-you for responding.

The storyline behind the Three little pigs has a truth in it that the stronger you build the house or anything for that matter, the least likely it will collapse. Now what harm could be in that hey Sue?

I can't imagine what could be considered offensive. While they're at it, I guess we should get rid of Tom Sawyer, and Gone with the Wind. Oh, and the Wizard of Oz too, because they could be considered offensive to some, my goodness, the world has gone mad.

True, bonbon, true, the world has gone mad and taking us mere mortals with it! My daughter would be heart broken if they took away Wizard of Oz as I would say she knows all the words as she watched it that many times! lol

It's like eliminating the "In God We Trust" or eliminating prayer in public schools, because it "offends" non-Christians or atheists. I wonder what they'll think of next.

Its so totaly lame, why should the Muslims even bother about this book. If hey dont want it, then they should not get it. Its not like their being forced to buy it. Don't have to high hopes about finding understanding by the Muslims, they are sickly obsessed (most, not all) by their damn rules and sh*t.

My thoughts exactly Wario it seems we have to sit back and watch our ways of life be taken away from us, as you can see with the happenings in the World today.

Well I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who is bewildered by the bigoted actions of the panel in the UK!! Who the hell do they think they are to suggest that the "STORY BOOK", fairy tale DUHHH could be politically misinterpreted into muslim offensive material!!!!!!
What next.... ban PIG farms because it may be offensive to muslims. The individuals want to take a really good lonnng look at their own beliefs they are projecting onto OUR supposed thinking and muslims supposed thinking. And to be fair... it wasn't the muslims thinking this, from what I have gathered. Well that's as good as my support goes for the muslims in this discussion but as for the panel that banned it ....glory be .... wake up you irriates!

Eagle, how nice it would be to just cruise along living our lives without these types of stupidity creeping in and ruining it! Also how nice it would be to be able to not let them get to us as they are really not what we believe so let those who feel this way deal with it! Am still trying to do this but hey it is hard!

Cannot find reason as to why this has been decided as have tried to think what part of the storyline could offend anybody. Guess we may not know as maybe there is no reasoning!

I also saw this on the news tonight. I was shocked such an innocent story being banned and what for???
Fear of upsetting people of another religion. It seems here in UK this type of thing is becoming common place and people are being told what we can and what we can't think, Say or do for fear of upsetting this or that religion.
Great Britain is a multi cultural country and surely a child's book is not really going to seriously offend anyone. If the answer to this is yes maybe the person who is so easily offended may want to ask themselves do they really want to live in a multi cultural country.
My children have learnt about all different religions at school and their school books have pictures of characters of various races I do not get upset or complain I am happy in the knowledge that my children are learning about different cultures and will grow up with an understanding of others.

Wow, that's sad. People are taking politically correct way too far. Honestly, at this rate, we won't be able to have anything fun and entertaining for children because children won't be able to be able to enjoy anything because people won't be able to freely create anything. It's getting really really sad.

Guess it is up to those who wish to live a "normal" life and disregard these type of stupidities as much as we can. For as long as I am left on this earth and as stubborn as I am, I would not consider not having this story as part of childrens' lives and wish I could just laugh it off, but it is becoming a serious problem that needs to be stamped out as soon as possible.

Good question! How is it offending and having read through the article I could not find the answer, just a lot of mumbo, jumbo!

I don't know how this book could offend Muslims... if it only featured pigs as characters... and there are no images of a muslim looking person eating pork... maybe the UK award committee over reacted... i wonder if they consulted muslims with their decision...
Some people tend to over react even if there is no need to... so i say "Hail to the Three Little Pigs" and their spinoff stories... i don't think muslims will even allow their children to reach such books so why the decision....

That is something I have tried to work out for myself but with not getting a reasonable answer from the article, I am baffled! Just another small-minded decision that hopefully won't have much weight behind it.
